My thoughts and prayers are with you. 5 years ago, I left my marriage of 20 yrs and 2 years ago I lost my mom to dementia. 3 foot surgeries later I'm learning the most important word is ACCEPTANCE. Of changes, of choices, of prayers, of others choices, of life and of knowing God is with you in every season. We are strong women from the inside out.š
The cabin and you discovering that you don't really need much more touched my soul. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. Every video you have published has been a revelation for myself. I am praying for your loved ones. I wish you a blessed new year.
Plans fall apart, but you certainly don't. Life happens and we can't help it. Sometime we just manage to keep getting up after each fall and that is all that we can ask for. For most, that is what being really succesful looks like. Everything else comes and goes. People, belongings, relationships, even memories. I am so sorry you have been through all of this and thank you for your courage to share it with us
My life at 68 has so many parallels to everything you talk about. Last year I bought a 2000 motorhome and fixed it up myself, and also some help from the professionals, and started venturing out. I love the simplicity. I was terrified at first but each time I go I amaze myself with how resourceful and brave I can be. Iām so glad I found you on here. You put all my feelings in to words and have helped me to understand more about myself than I could ever explain. I hope you continue your series for a long time.
Thank you for the update. I've had the honour to provide full-time care for my Mom, who has dementia. It has been 10 years of love, laughter and some sadness. My Mom is starting to decline but I hold tightly to the memories.
You are a great narrator, well written piece. Bless your heart you have had such a struggle. My wife and I took care of her mother with dementia, it was a struggle is an understatement. You will be in our prayers. My wife and I are from down state Michigan, we now live in Texas. We spent a month in the U.P. Last fall, we had a great time and are now going spend a month there every year if we can. Beautiful area, great people, lovely solitude. Itās close to our family in Canada and Wisconsin. Thanks for update
Thank you for the update. It's good to hear from you. I hope you continue to stay strong. Sending hugs as you journey into the next phase of your life⤠Happy New Year to you & your family! Many wishes for health & happiness in 2026! š

Itās not the destination, itās the journey. Youāre already miles ahead of the LA rat race Iāve been stuck in for 35 years. Iām planning my own reverse migration back to Michigan, moving onto an old trailer property once we get it ready. Funny how life works ā the farm I couldnāt wait to escape as a kid is now where dozens of my family still live and work⦠and where I want to be again. Turns out the things I chased back then were temporary. What really matters is family and taking care of your own. Iām grateful to be starting with a functional place, even if itās a 1970s trailer. Hoping to stay flexible and push through the transition the same way you did.
My house is smaller than your little cabin. I decided about a decade ago not to plan, to let go, to watch God unfold His plan in my life. This has led to many surprising and delightful experiences. This road of trust, this road less traveled has made all the difference.
Thank you for your honesty. Iām at a crossraods now and hearing you say this is a time to let go, has changed my perspective. Time for me to let go and reassess eveything.
