The Karakorum is the wildest mountain range in the world. One of the spectacular mountains around this Baltoro glacier is the Trango "Nameless Tower". It’s the biggest free-standing rock tower, and it’s simply just a mountain to be climbed!

Edu Marín, helped with his brother Alex and father Novato, attempts the second free ascent of Eternal Flame. This achievement occurs 33 years after the first ascent of the route by Wofgang Güllich & Kurt Albert, and 13 years after Alex & Thomas Huber’s first free ascent.

Thank you so much! I am 65 now. I was a high elevation mountaineer and three years ago lost my mobility even to move through the bad car accident. I was destroyed above and beyond with my soul and my body. With GOD’s grace I am in recovery now and even started running mountain trails again. Looking at that guy who is older than me gives me hope that I still have more fun with the High Mountains. Blessings!

im fascinated by the fact that your dad at 70 climbed such an extremely difficult mountain with you brothers. What a strong and amazing young man your dad is! All three of you were exceptional!

I'm lost for words. Unquestionably one of the most extraordinary achievements in the Karakoram as well as a quite jaw-dropping film. Surely this will win top prizes in Mountain Film festivals. A classic of the times.

The intro is slightly confusing; here is a timeline.

First ascent: Kurt Albert, Wolfgang Güllich, Christof Stiegler, Milan Sykora, 09/1989. 7b+ and aid climbing.

First free ascent: Thomas & Alexander Huber 11-14/08/2009. Redpoint, All pitches free, including seconding. Sharing (swinging) leads. 7c+ and a few variation pitches from the first ascent to make it possible.

First repeat: Edu Marín, 2022
First to lead all pitches, first to do it in one continuous push.

Days after.....
First onsight: Jacopo Larcher, Barbara Zangerl 2022
Six days, swinging leads, but both led the four hard pitches.

First female ascent: Barbara Zangerl, 2022
First rope solo: Stefano Ragazzo 17-26/07/2024
