I honestly don't even blame the internet. The people making this scene gave the perfect scenario to feed this ship

"The Tumblr Sexymanification of Luigi" is a series of words I never thought I'd hear in a lifetime

I adore that everyone can combat: “but Luigi’s a human and bowser’s a turtle lizard evil creature!” With: “it’s canon that bowser likes humans. has he not kidnapped peach to marry her in almost every Mario game “

"I can take him"
"In a fight"
...
"In a fight, right?"
Luigi: Well brother, you know me. I'm a lover, not a fighter
Mario then learns a valuable lesson. Never ask a question you're not prepared for the answer to

Scene: Bowser basically torturing Luigi and holding him hostage

Internet: Damn, this is peak romance

But hey, still better love story than Twilight

When I first saw the trailer, I was with MY DAD
WE WERE AT THE CINEMA WAITING TO WATCH THE NEW MATILDA
And the trailer played
And I swear my dad leant over the seat to whisper to me “Are they gay?” Like absolutely genuine
It was so funny

"I'm a villain, not a monster" is actually one of the best quotes I've ever heard. It's very deep and meaningful.

Edit: So I looked on AO3 and as of now, January 7th, Bowuigi has 186 fanfics on AO3.

The thing with ships like this is it FEELS like a sin.

But then half the drawings are some of the cutest shit I’ve ever seen

Dauigi ( Daisy x Luigi ) : I’m the most popular ship of Luigi!
Bowiugi : Excuse me?

Imagine if they completely changed that part of the movie because of all the shippers

As someone who is dating an Italian, I'm absolutely praying for Bowser's sanity.

Bro, imagine that a bowuigi shipper works at the studio where they're making this or even is working at Nintendo and is like, "Let me feed them something."

While I can’t say I started shipping it myself, I am absolutely LOVING the fanart and posts bowuigi is spawning. One of my favourite genre of fanart from it has to be ‘Mario being accused of being homophobic before Mario immediately hits back with a hilarious response because while Mario would not be caught DEAD being homophobic (truly an allied king or queer himself depending on how you headcanon) he has all the reasons in the world to be bowserphobic’

I saw the most wholesome tiktok ever—- Bowser was saying “you are important to my plan” and luigi zoned everything else out and just asked “I’m…Important?🥺” guys i loved it

I honestly think a big reason for this ship (besides monster fucker vibes and just how cute the contrast is) is the wish fulfillment for these two characters. Bowser just wants a spouse to keep him company, somebody he can be venerable with. Unfortunately he’s totally ruined that with Peach by being pushy. He just likes the idea of married life with somebody much more kind and sweet than him. Luigi always feels like he’s in his brother’s heroic shadow, watching him get the girl just about every day of the week. Not only scoring a big powerful monarch but one that seems impossible to expose the sensitive side of is a power move for him.

This video has vibes of "Your chronically online friend shows you the dumbest thing she just heard about and you two cackle about it until 4am when her mom comes out and yells at you for waking her up".

Anyway I'm probably gonna binge a bunch of your videos now, A++.

I know it will never be cannon but I need, absolutely NEED a full length 100,000 word fic of this ship where it's a slow burn. And Mario has to deal with his inner bias and learn that people can change.

I can just imagine charlie day & jack black's reactions to seeing all the bowuigi content, charlie would be laughing uncontrollably while jack would be so down with this ship, he would wear a massive shirt that says "i'mma bowuigi supporter" & then he'd say something along the lines "yeah me & charlie are gay in the movie"

Ok no wait, this ship is actually good.

Both being love starved by the people around them (Bowser being seen as a monster and Luigi always overshadowed by Mario) and finding the solace in each other's company, giving what both lacked...

Tumblr did it again. It made me ship something I never thought of before.

I'm always more fascinated by how a ship sky rockets, than the actual ship itself.

It's interesting no matter how small the "spark", fans just create a symphony of creative fireworks displayed. 🤣
