As the story goes, Probert and Stevie helped Kocur return to the Wings. Joey wanted to get back in the NHL and Detroit, and he asked Probie to stir things up in the December game. Stevie went to management and suggested they sign Joey, afterwards. The Kocur-Probert fight was Joey's sort of "Thank you" for that.

This is the first time I've ever seen anything from the 3/1/1997 NYR game. I've been looking for anything from that game for eons.

Shanahan fought Probert, McSorley and Hatcher in his first year, talk about earning his Winged Wheel.
Thanks for the awesome compilation awood!!

Thanks for pointing this video out Awood. A truly amazing year for so many players. LMAO - Mike Knuble - first NHL Game - and he get's thrown in the the most fierce game between the AVS and Wings ever. The look on his face is priceless.

I'll be damned...never realized the ESPN feed of the legendary March 26th game actually had a camera on Roy (around 52:41 in) as he, in an extremely classy move, shot the puck down to Vernon after the game, knowing full well his old rival had just won his 300th game. To do so, especially after such a hate and blood filled game in which his opposing keeper had fought (and beaten) him, speaks volumes about Roy's sportsmanship. Say what you want about his cockiness, I NEVER had a problem with Roy, nor of course Sakic. Now, Foote, Lemieux, Keane, LaCroix, Corbet, and that talented but overrated hack Forsberg (who brought most of his injuries on himself for being such a cheapshot artist), on the other hand...
