Dear Johanna, did you know, that the handwriting in the book is German? As far as I could tell it talks about the book being a Christmas gift for a "dear, little" person called Lilo, a peaceful Christmas, upcoming better times and contemplative hours.
What a journey the book must have had now being yours and being turned into a sketchbook.
Greetings from Germany, Carolin

the fact that she’s been filming these videos for years and still has the patience to explain everything in such detail is so sweet ❤🇧🇷

For anyone new to creating books like this your instructions were so clear and easy to understand. You say you have done this so many times, but how thoughtful for you to do it once again for anyone new to your channel. The books you showed were gorgeous, and I have to pop into my local town tomorrow so I'm going to try and pick one up from a charity shop. You have encouraged me through this to stretch myself creatively through sketching, which in all honesty I'm not great at 😬 but I'm happy to try. Bless you Johanna x

I love how you tore the pages to make them fit into the book cover. It gives the book a nice look. You're a great teacher; you make everything look so easy. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

I didn't like the way it disturbs the beauty of the cover to have the awl punches through the spine and sew the signatures directly into it, but I imagine you could do the same measuring and sew it into a second strip of sturdy fabric or something and then glue that into the reinforced cover, so the exterior of the book retains its integrity.

I have like 1000 + Readers Digest books...they are so beautiful so I just use them everywhere around my house. I'm thinking i may use a few for sketchbooks. Why do I have so many Readers Digest?? My son worked at a homeless shelter that had so many books they let us take them for free. Great idea Johanna!!! love your channel and your voice!!☺

Omg!! My father was a Bookbinder. I wish he was here to do this with me.

What I love with your tutorials is there’s no complicated math involved 😅 you make it clear and digestible, great teaching skills! Thank you for continuing to share your tips and tricks! ❤
Ps: currently working for a local shop, on a collection of very similar journals and notebooks, from old book covers ( the red ones with gold embossing are ubiquitous in France), using this simple pamphlet stitch which I learned from you ! So thank you from the bottom of my heart❤️

I love that you used so many different types of paper, that's a great idea 😊

I'm watching this in 2025. It is the best process I have seen. So many are so complicated and so many steps. I can definitely do this. The thing is, I never run into old books. I check Goodwill, etc. but they are usually newer type books.
Love this. Thank you.
