Im building my own tilting tryke, can see the project on my channel. My welds don't look fantastic either but when i bought a tig welder it was like i started working on easy mode on thin mental. In 2+mm metal, stick or mig i feel is as good if not better but lower than 2mm tig shines. Far better temperature control with good results coming easier. A good tig welder has high frequency start. At first i bought a cheap one with lift start. I find super difficult to use so definitely spend the extra money and get a hf start. An ac/dc to weld aluminum are super nice but they are more expensive. I'm glad to see you back at it again. I have to admit I watched your first prototype very carefully and learned a lot from it.

I love your work! You should find a sponsor to send you a laser tube cutter and a laser welder! You'd be unstoppable! CAD to finished tube in seconds 🤔

Excellent as always. Your welding would improve if you had a more modern machine. Some of the cheaper inverter welders in the market place would help you no end. We are so lucky to have engineers like yourself who willingly share their skills and time. Thanks

I have the same MIG welder!  I hate it…. Bought an AC/DC TIG and it has made a world of difference to my welding.

great prototype making video! extra thumbs up on details for making and setting up!  using laser cut is a great idea to save time.  Could use more practice on welding for sure😄😄

I have exactly the same metal saw as the one shown in the video. Just a quick question from experience — have you already checked the worm gear in the gearbox? On these saws it tends to wear out or fail quite fast, often due to poor factory assembly or misalignment in the gearbox. Curious if you’ve run into that issue yet.

Great design. I wonder if you'd considered using TIG to weld the tubes?? It gives you far better control over heat, particularly for light duty and dissimilar thickness materials, while offering excellent strength joints. Interesting series, looking forward to future episodes.

Yup your welding is a bit messy.
However, that can be cured.
What size wire are you using...if it's 0.8 possibly too big, try 0.6..better temp...
From what l can hear not enough amps.
You need a particular sound sort of electric arc 'crack'...
But I like your system.
I hope to build a similar tilt but for a motorscooter rear end.

As everybody else said - go for TIG.

Good work sir. My number one recommendation from a poor welder is to get a big bottle of argon mix gas, like the Hobbeyweld 9l original. The argon mix gives a much much better weld l. At £115 odd to buy, £60 refund on the bottle when you are dine, £44 for every refill afterwards, which is 13 of those bottles you have. Without the savings it's worth swapping just to the better welding gas.

Be very careful when spot welding like that. It's a cold weld, so at the very least be sure to check the inside of the tube to make sure you have full penetration.

Personally, I would've welded a coupling nut or a long threaded tube inline with your a-arms. Less material, lighter, less welding and fabrication and a cleaner look.
