I fell in love with rugby because of this match. Still one of the best internationals I've ever seen

It is tragic we will never see games like this again. England started this rugby league style defence in the 90's and now everyone plays that way. Rugby Union is dying a slow painful death.

Was 8 years old and it was the first game I was ever taken to.

This was one of the Greatest Matches played by Wales and Scotland, Why isn't Rugby played like this today? The game today is boring because there is so much more defence so no one can get through anymore. Who is in charge of the rules of the game these days. They need to sit down and watch game of old to know that rugby can be exciting to watch. Someone needs to watch these games and then change the game to make it more open like it used to be.

I recall watching this while in the Army as a 20 year old. I was skiing in Southern Bavaria during the next match with Ireland. There was no Internet or mobile phone back the , so I rang up a neighbour back in Wales for the score! I dialled the wrong number and a stranger with his wife told me the score! Lovely Welsh people, great memories.

I'm exhausted after that.. What a game, it was like a Barbarians match. Great stuff, well done to all.

Ieuan Evans: great try, great mullet.

What we did not know at that time was that this 1988 side would break up in 12 months with defections to Rugby League  and this was a side that was being geared towards the 1991 World Cup but key players going North to play Rugby League destroyed this plan along with a ill-advised 1988 Summer tour to New Zealand where they would face a All Blacks side hitting their peak and would win the 2 tests by a combined 106-12

One of the great games of the 80s .

Thanks Alan for posting.I'm in the crowd at 48 mins, it's great to see a young handsome me!What an awesome game, also I named my son Ieuan.

I've made the same comment on another video somewhere, but no reason why it can't be repeated here; just hearing Bill Mclaren say the name "Iwan Tukolo"'' takes me right back.  Wonderful.

Rugby Union how it should be played, one of the great games to watch.

Great to see real scrumaging, andplayers playing with flair and commitment and for each other, not coached robots.

Nice to see that again. Triple Crown year of course.

What a fabulous game of rugby.

My first international 16 in the west enclosure £4 a ticket my first pint in Cardiff was the Duke of wellington 🏉🍺

Thanks for posting, a truly great match. Proof, I think, that this modern day TMO bollocks doesn't help the game. Just the opposite.

Davies was  magnificent.
At that stage best flyhalf in world.

Magnificent international. Scots forwards vs Welsh backs doesn't really tell you the full story.

I was there
