Here’s another of my occasional videos about artists (rather than illustrators) whose work I admire, and René Magritte is up there with the best of them as far as I'm concerned. I've been beguiled ever since I first saw his paintings in the school library, and unlike some other youthful enthusiasms my fascination hasn’t worn off even a little in the ensuing decades.

I struggled for years to comprehend his meanings, until, as you alluded to, I decided that I love his work and that is enough. Thanks for the retrospective and biographical information!

Thank you for showing me and everyone that Magritte had such a large amount of work. Some of his art I knew nothing about before this presentation. Magritte's illustrations in the twenties were beautifully designed examples.

Magritte spent years making ads because his paintings couldn’t pay the bills. Now his paintings are used to sell everything. That worked out nicely.

I knew his work, but until this video knew nothing of his past. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch, whatever kind of day I'm having. Thank you!

That was absolutely more than good enough for me too - really enjoyed that and one that I know I will rewatch. Thank you so much.

Thank you! I had never stopped to think about Magritte's background before he embarked upon his fantastical/surreal work. I did however once see Magritte's clouds outside an airplane window - truth in jest ~
