I would like to cordially thank my wife for putting up with me and being cool with my dumb instrument buying habits. Love you ❤ 😘

I love that they played Stars and Stripes on piccolo and completely ignored the piccolo solo in the grandioso and just played the regular trio.

Your wife is super funny! She should be in more videos! (If she’s up to it of course)

I went on a 10 hour journey to the nearest music store to get a new screw for one of my piccolo’s mechanisms and they didn’t have it. I finally found it on the carpet at home.

A group of us were on a road trip to an event a couple hundred miles away. One fellow pulled out a sopranino recorder and started tootling away. Another guy couldn't take it any longer, grabbed it and threw it out the window. The sopranino player looked sad, then he brightened up and pulled another one out of his sleeve and started tootling away. That one got thrown out the window as well. He then pulled one out of his other sleeve. We all broke out laughing except the guy that was throwing them out the window. He sulked the rest of the way. The first guy had been waiting for ages to play that prank and he had a few more recorders ready to go. They were just some plastic cheapo recorders so no good instruments were harmed ;)

3:43 i have always thought that the long silver stick was supposed to help with wiping the inside of the flute 😭

Your wife could so make a banger channel that teaches people about the flute and piccolo. She would be a great youtube teacher

The glue is usually of the hot melt kind (traditionally shellac but nowadays just plastic) so heating the cup CAREFULLY (it's easy to burn the pads, don't ask me how I know) with a small heat gun or alcohol lamp melts it easily and allows you to wipe it off or adjust the pad as long as the glue is liquid. And instead of paper, use a very thin sheet of cork between the keys, cork can be adjusted (thinner, obviously not thicker) by carefully sanding with a piece of fine sandpaper. This from experience with vintage saxophones (no adjustment screws so all adjustments need to be done by varying the thickness of corks) and clarinets, I suppose a piccolo would be of similar construction, just a lot smaller.

You two are awesome. Thanks for the practical demonstration of troubleshooting. It's something we should teach more of, even as so many things have become disposable.
