I have lived some time in the philippines in the past and have been going back and forth for the last 12 yrs. My wife is filipina and my kid was born there. Nobody ever robbed me so far luckily. I ve also lived(or visited) also in very remote areas and medium size towns and also 1 big city

Do not trust just anybody..be careful and be safe

Here in the Philippines, it is very difficult to recover lost items; the person who took the phone has likely already sold it. Next time, please take better care of your belongings, especially gadgets.

Careful with the "police" in the Philippines. They're not real police and we can't trust them.

most important things to always remember when going to the phillipines, wear a pacsafe anti theft bag. wallets, passports and phones should be priority number 1.. cmon guys? Philippines is relatively safe for the most part. but pickpockets and thefts are their specialties.

The worst Administration in the Philippine History

When you travel  to city like  Manila,  don't  have  your phone  or anything  valuable  out in the open they will steal it.   Wear  your  book bag in the font, if not when you're not looking  they will go through it and take  whatever  is valuable.  If you notice the locals  wear their book bag in the front, or they have a bag in the front.   While  you are in the Philippines   just be careful  everywhere you go.

Im a filipino, and walking in the streets of Manila and in midnight just not safe guys! be careful if you're in Tondo or in Quiapo, too many thieves, also in QC. Be very careful!!

Anywhere you go, there are always 2 kinds of people, the good and the bad. So it's best to keep an eye on your belongings all the time.... So sorry to hear such a bad experience in your first few days in Manila. Hope u enjoy the rest.

Your budget dictates your travel woes. Why would you in the first place go to places without doing your research. Why in the hell would you travel without being vigilant anywhere you go. I myself got robbed in other countries too but that's new learning. When I got pickpocketed in Greece, the police didn't care at all during reporting.  You were blessed to be assisted by manila police.

sorry bout your bad exp. incoming tourists should skip manila; enjoy the islands, provinces.. instead.
