It was a great store. He also worked at Mayfair Market. Another old Southern California chain.
We used to shop at the Alpha Beta in south San Jose back in the '70s and early '80s, now it's a Nob Hill. I also bagged groceries at the Sunnyvale Alpha Beta on S. Mary Ave. in '87, by that time we were in Cupertino, and I remember the Cupertino store that sold Atari video games.
