I love Gladys using the term "a touch of Consumption" because not only does it suggest she is very (unnaturally) old, but also it's an inside joke for her because she is quite literally consuming Alex's parent's life force.

17:41 I have a theory related to her being a witch but asking permission to enter. Magic, in general, is MUCH stronger when you're doing it with consent. I think if she's going into someone's home to INFLUENCE them, she needs to get that first YES, which she is using as a backdoor into them consenting to magic.

My own noticing about Weapons is that 2:17 am has the 17 kids missing and only 2 people from that class surviving.

4:44 actually it says that a year later some of them have started to speak again, so it’s not confirmed that it not possible for the others to recover, just that they’re not quite there yet.

Fun fact; The reason the warning about giving the fae your name is phrased that way is because they are said to be very literal and physically cannot lie, so when a fae asks, "Can/may I have your name?" Or "Can/may you give me your name?" You are literally giving it to them, so to be careful, the way you're supposed to respond is to politely tell them they can't have your name, nor will you give it to them.
Some people say that you can clarify that they can KNOW your name or a nickname instead of having it, but even then, it's a risky move and a slippery slope.

I was watching this movie in the theater and out of nowhere, in the middle of the movie, one dude got up and t-posed out the hall. Everybody started laughing 😂

For the title of the movie, WEAPONS. I personally took that to be the children. The witch used the children as weapons against the town. The disappearance of the children would leave a scar on the town the families would likely never recover, and then at the end the weapons are turned on the witch herself and she dies.

The fae are also said to take children, hold them captive in their fae realms, and replace them with magical duplicates called changelings, some of which would then attack their own families. That is an even stronger argument for this theory, because Gladys literally takes the children using their names, holds them in the basement for months, gives them food from the house (her realm), and is fully prepared to weaponize them against their own community.

It also puts a really dark spin on why Gladys was so amused at Alex insisting she go home after the task was done, since "home" to the thing controlling her would be exactly where it wanted to take the kids.

Havent mentioned this snippet yet but i personally think that the aunt’s reference in the principal’s office with “consumption” mirrors the ones of each character. Ex; Justine with alcohol, the principal with food, Archer with his kid, the homeless guy with drugs, etc. You could also say that its a reference to how aunt Gladys “Consumes” the life force of kids.

18:10 it's also a common thing to never say thank you. To kindly not accept the thing offered. When a witch first begins their spells and such, fae will try to reach out. Some good, some bad. They'll offer small trinkets, things shiney or precious to them to get your favor and trust. Now it's up to whoever if they accept, but many generally believe it's best to wait until you're comfortable in your practice. As it can be a risk depending on which fae or deity you so choose to accept.

20:06 she took his dog tags. WITH HIS NAME ON THEM.

@RubyHippard 11 months ago

0:16 so it’s the fae? The monster is the fae? Aight

@chickenodlesoup 11 months ago

20:04 ik it doesn’t look that bad, but when i was in the theaters, this was genuinely the WORST JUMPSCARE i’ve ever experienced

@davidknightx 11 months ago

In the Studio Ghilbi movie "Spirited Away" the witch that runs the bathhouse controls people by taking their names.

I have a theory that links the theme of addictions that can be traced through this show - Janice's and Paul's history of being alcoholics, and James' addiction to drugs - Gladys is a life force addict who used for years and, with time, she's finding it harder to become younger like she used to as she's "built up a tolerance" so to speak, so now she needs seventeen children to get the same results just one used to have.

@BlockMasterDan 11 months ago

11:39 you know it's a good theory when he mentions cordyceps

@tylersackett6302 11 months ago

While the Name thing is interesting, there is one hole in it. Mainly that it mentioned at the end how the kids were starting to go back to normal and even start talking again, and Gladys grabbed Archer’s Dog Tags. Which would have his name.

I think it’s more so how long they would’ve been under her spell. Since the parents were under it much longer than the kids, they kinda stuck like that
