I think the thing I love best about the Grim Donut is that it's so dumb but it actually manages to teach me about bike geometry.  I mean, I can read all the reviews about bikes all day long but I have no idea what the reviewer means when describing what half a degree difference here or there feel like.  I'm a novice/casual rider and I probably won't feel the difference at all.  But then you go all-out and make a crazy bike like this and it becomes much more obvious and understandable what the geometry tradeoffs are.

Honestly, the more I learn about bicycles, the more I'm convinced they're literally just magic and nobody understands how they work.

a crazy slack steerer seems like the perfect opportunity for a linkage fork, if only because you could get the wheel to actually turn instead of just flop side to side

Seth has never ceased bringing us new and interesting MTB content for two decades.

Don't go giving the "Industry" any ideas like Rear Steering! Anyone will eventually get used to a "Mutant" bike, especially if a change solves a problem issue. Going over the bars is rare with new geometry for me, my1999 bike sends me OTB on virtually every ride. Thanks Seth!

I feel like Seth is discovering what it's like to be 6'3" on an XL 29er lol.  There are turns on trails here in central Florida that I legitimately can't do because my bike is too long.

The statements like: "Descends better than a downhill bike and goes uphill worse than an enduro" and "Not playful" has me thinking that it's only a matter of time before we start to see these Grim Donut geometries start trickling into the race bikes in the DH World Cup, where uphill doesn't happen... but possibly as a mullet to help with the playful aspect?

I think it predicts the future pretty accurately. It just needs to have bigger wheels.

Actually, the explanation of the geometry made more sense that it did on previous bikes. Maybe being able to see it in the ramped up numbers helped.

This bike and its geometry, reminds me a lot of skis.
In skiing, there's something called the turning radius: the bigger the radius, the longer it takes to make a turn. Skis with a large radius are great for high-speed, straight-line descents, while skis with a shorter radius are more maneuverable and better for quick turns, though not ideal for going straight at high speed.

I never really thought about a bike’s wheelbase in the same way, but it's basically a similar concept. A longer wheelbase feels more stable and composed at speed, while a shorter one feels quicker and more agile in turns.
