We want to know, what was the worst hotel experience you had? Did it have good reviews or were you expecting it to be bad going in?

That capsule room would be giving me a panic attack

I never leave home without a supply of ear plugs!  I do think that sometimes people who write the reviews on the online websites have unrealistic expectations.  If we stay in one star hotels with one star prices, which is the crucial point, it is unreasonable to expect the luxury of The Ritz!   Thank you for the video!

So im Irish and lived in Lisbon for like 6 months. Working as a tour guide. Many of those 1 star reviews are probably Americans. As we had to deal with a bunch as well, who would just leave mid tour because it took too long. Whilst they booked a 3 hour tour. They have these expectations that they should be treated like royals.

At least when you're expecting the worse you can't get disappointed. NIce concept :)

Pay cheap but expect 5 star service most people but thank you for reviewing these especially the pods as I was looking into those so saved me money there ❤

When you walk in with a camera attached to the front of  you they are going to be nice for fear of being online. They might even upgrade you. Also cities have noise. They do the garbage and street cleaning at night. Wear some earplugs. Hardly hotels fault.

Wish you told us how much you paid for each hotel.

There’s a difference between a hotel being given one star reviews and a hotel being one star in class.

Bed bugs are literally everywhere and no hotel would keep out that blaring ambulance haha

aargh that capsule hotel ! I need to go out, can't breathe anymore.
Last September I stayed in Lille, France in hotel première classe, 33€ per night, dog was free.
It was super clean and had a wonderful bed. I recommend!

"Dont't judge a hotel by the reviews" - I completely agree!  Generally people who write reviews are people who concentrate on the negative. I have stopped reading them as my experience has been the same as yours. I always book my hotels through the same website and have never been disappointed

To check for bedbugs look behind the top of the bed on the floor and you’ll see the dead ones. Also check for blood spots on the wall.

Porto was pretty descent except the noise. The capsules I'd have walked out and found a new place, I could not do the coffin beds. I have been lucky, even in my hostel days, I had good experiences. Only real complaints were horrid customer service and that was at nicer hotels. Though on Crete my travel agency was meant to put me in a hotel, but they instead put me in some version of air bnb. And didn't tell me. Cab driver just dropped me off at this random building in a parkade with stairs. I finally got someone from my agency and they are like 'oh we thought you picked the flat option'. four floors up on foot, I found it wasnt even a flat it was just a hotel room with a fridge (didnt even have a microwave). And air conditioning was out.  Got switched to the hotel I was meant to be in. Solo traveler, I did not like being in some random building with no security or others, and it was in a real residential area with little street lights etc for going out. And no restaurants near for breakfast etc (and my tour was meant to have breakfasts included). I got switched to a great hotel right across from the archaeology museum in Heraklion.
