Most common issue in comics is the artist only knows how to draw humans. (Bonus points if they can only draw adults between 5'5" and 6'6", or can only draw one gender)

That's no good.

SONIC??? My brother, look at TAILS 2:32

The fact that Naugus Games was retconned really says a lot about that story's quality.

3:26 the way I hear the name Eddie the Yeti and immediately think of the Donkey Kong one

I think this was a case of extraordinarily bad luck. Comics require a well-oiled machine of a team. So when someone's out of commission for whatever reason, the team has to either scramble and find a replacement or resort to publishing one of many unreleased issues that are made specifically for such occasions. That's why, sometimes in pre-Flynn Archie Sonic, among all the modern adventures, you would randomly stumble upon a story drawn by an older artist who's not even on the book anymore. Many Hands was clearly an extreme case when something went very wrong, and they couldn't finish the story or get one from the backlog, so a bunch of random people had to make something just to put the book on store shelves. It's an example of the usual comic book pipeline completely falling apart.

3:23 "this story sees sonic heading to pay his respects to eddie the yeti" thank you for reminding me why i love archie sonic with one sentence

if I told anyone I know that Sonic was once saved by a cyborg yeti during a fight with a wizard I'm not sure they'd believe me

Beware the artist of Many Hands

For years as a kid I struggled with the question "Is this the same Ron Lim?" The chasm in quality between Sonic and Silver Surfer seemed impossible.

As an adult working in commercial art, thinking about what Archie probably payed artists at the time, I find myself far more forgiving, lol. Sure, knock out this kids' book. Get that bag king.

I swear, the Wolf Pack adaptation looks like a fan comic. I do remember seeing A.B.T.’s redraw. If only that one made it.

God, Many Hands is such a weird mystery of the Archie comics... Glad to see you talking about them!

0:58 It's kinda crazy how much of a downgrade in art he experienced... Unless, he somehow, UNIRONICALLY enjoys his recent art and prefers it over his penciling in OG Archie comics 😰

"Many Hands" sounds like a creepypasta character

0:20 You think Vince Colleta was bad, look at George Bell. Yikes. As someone who has read a lot of old Marvel comics, Jack Kirby's art lived or died by the inker. As for the topic of the video, it was so weird for me to read Sonic Super Special #15 and see that the 2011 Free Comic Book Day was a remake of an older story. A poorly drawn one, at that.

8:08 What is going on with sonics stomach

6:28
Feels nice you're talking about this episode considering I am native American myself LOL

Great video

This is one case where Many Hands don't make for light work.

If you think Many Hands is a bad artist, wait til you meet T.M. Cooks!

I am so glad channels like yours and Archie Sonic Lore exist now. So often I see the comics boiled down to terrible writing and ugly art because of cherry picked moments, and I’m glad there’s now YouTubers taking a deeper look into them. I love that you can see the good in even infamous contributors like Penders and Lim.
