I wanted to see how big a difference time makes when painting, so I challenged myself to paint the same painting spending 1 hour, 10 hours and 100 hours!

Early in my art career, I learned a valuable lesson from my then brother-in-law, who worked as an artist in an ad agency. I was doing art more for fun (at that time) and Gary was creating advertising... I asked him when he knew his ads were done. He turned and said, "art is never done... it's just "due."

Have you ever thought of turning your paintings into puzzles? Bet there would be a demand for them.

Now, do it the other way around! 100h first, then 10, then see how much of an impact 110 hours of practice makes on a 1 hour painting!

This really illustrates how long it takes to create art. Artists should send this video to people who commission them and ask which tier they want their painting to be in so they can understand the value of what they're paying for.

The amount of detail in the 100 hour painting though 👀

It is print-worthy, for sure! I’d be curious how things would have turned out if you started with the 100 hour, then 10, and finally 1. I suspect you’d have learned a lot about the composition, color choices, and figured out some techniques that were improved upon with repetition that would have a better 10 hour now than the first go around.

I not only want this as a print, I want it also as wallpaper für my computer, I think it looks absolutely sick!

The 100 hours one is an absolute masterpiece !

The last painting is honestly so stunning. I thought the 10 hour one was beautiful and then you blew me away with the final one. Absolutely magnificent.

Would I want a print of that masterpiece? HELL YES !

Ah, another random YouTube recommendation of something amazing that leaves me wondering who are these elven superior beings that can create such magic that makes the rest of us feel utterly devoid of skill.

Update: ha, I see now that she calls one of her merch items "Elven Sketchbook". I KNEW they were elves.

This just came out of nowhere in my feed and I just watched it. So addictive to see the little details being painted and everything else! Nice work

You haven't found the diminishing returns yet, you need to do a 1000 hour one now.

My daughter is so inspired by you she recreates everything you do. We’ve even started book making/binding and made about 15. My husband even re-conditioned a second hand press. Xx

At speed, it really looks magical when Martina waves her paintbrush and a field of grass and flowers just appears on the canvas.

This is a prime example of, “You can’t rush art!” It takes time and patience to get your art to where you want it to be. That way you’ll love and be proud of your work. Especially, if your a perfectionist like me.

This is absolutely incredible, I literally want to hang that up on my wall so bad 😭

100 hours: Epic, majestic, magnificent, beautiful, extraordinary!.
10 hours: Aesthetic and very nice, bright and clean.
1 hour: Still better than I can do in 1000 hours xD
