I saw headlines on how they are sunsetting physical releases and yeah it’s scary we keep getting closer to the “you will own nothing and you will be happy” future especially in gaming

Banger music choices, great opinions!  The things that gaming companies are getting away with are insane 😭 I don't think any other medium can get away with that as easily as gaming companies think they do. But, Sony has reversed the closure of the PS3 and Vita stores before so here's hoping they reverse the fully digital idea with enough backlash. And with prices going up like they are? I have a feeling that games are going to become unaffordable before gaming companies do anything about it. They really should take a note from Silksong. $20 and look how well that sold. Insane.
And I agree that it's hard to boycott a company like Sony. I love my PS5 and I love the games on it. I had a similar experience with Nintendo when they released the Switch 2 at the price that they did. I did wait a year to buy it, but it's hard to not want to support a company when you want to play their games.
ALSO YEAH! FUCK AI!!!! Bad for the environment, bad for our wallets, bad for our brains, bad for artists, and bad for literally everything. It's failing so badly and yet people are pushing it because they don't want their investments to fail. I'm hoping it turns out like NFTs and goes absolutely nowhere. And hopefully sooner than later.
With the Steam Machine, I like the idea of it. A different way to play my Steam games. But it's a lot like docking your Steam Deck. Just buy a dock for your living room TV. That's what I did. It works just as well as a Steam Machine would.
And I can say so much more on the rest of the video but this is already a lot! Great video! I enjoyed it a lot!
Also, I like your voice! Very nice to listen to!

Cathartic to watch a video that is proportionately angry about all this news!

Another major issue with all-digital gaming is that when the storefront is inevitably shut down (as was just announced for the PS3 and Vita stores... again), digital exclusive games become impossible for anyone new to acquire, and Sony have decided that should apply to 100% of the PS6 library. If the PS3 had been given this fate, then by the end of next year resetting a PS3 would essentially turn it into a cinder block with a settings menu, unless you personally happen to already have previous purchases on your PSN account. And if something eventually happens to Sony as a company and the servers all get shut down, even your legacy purchases won't be possible to reinstall any more. We already get a taste of this every time a game that depends on an expensive licence is delisted, but at least sometimes when that used to happen, the physical version could still be found. From 2028 onwards there'll be no chance. Jailbreaking and piracy is the only thing that will prevent every future PlayStation exclusive from eventually becoming lost media. That is SO GRIM.

Personally, I'll begrudgingly tolerate games being digital only for as long as this generation lasts, but the prospect of paying way more for a PS6 with no disc drive is viscerally unappealing.

hopefully sony gets enough backlash to change their mind, but i doubt it.

If sony sticks with this decision im sure more people will become aware of simply just pirating
