There’s a lot of reasons why this movie 11 Oscars in 1959.
What a great movie. 🎥

Ben Hur is one of the greatest Epics ever put on screen. Every time Jesus appears especially the first time when he have Ben Hur water is a tear jerking moment

Some of the greatest movies were made before most of us were born.

Long ago before an MCU, the Lord of the Rings, Braveheart, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, and Gladiator, there was....BEN HUR.

This movie was over the top then and now. Ben-Hur will always be one of the best movies ever made if not the best.

The  fact they never show Jesus face is so powerful. You see it in the shame of the sadistic centurion when he confronts Jesus about giving Ben Hur water. Just great seeing the two of you getting such appreciation and meaning from a film made 67 years ago.

YES!
Thanks for this!
It's one of my favorite biblical epics of all time!
It won 11 Oscars including Best Picture, making it the first film to be nominated in all categories.
It's part of an unofficial trilogy.
The second film to win in 11 Oscars was TITANIC, as it was nominated for 14 nominations.
LORD OF THE RINGS RETURN TO OF THE KING would be the third film to win 11 Oscars including Best Picture.

"You treat my horses like animals!"

I Wish you watch him in The Ten Commandmnets , awesome movie

Ladies:  The book upon which this movie was based was titled:  "Ben Hur:  A Tale of the Christ" by Lew Wallace in 1880.

What stands out about Ben-Hur is not just the story, but the scale of how it was made. Practical sets, massive crowd scenes, and the chariot sequence still feels astonishingly physical.

"It feels like we are there for real. How did they do that?" Guess what: they were there for real. That race was entirely made with practical effects, an awesome recreation of Circus Maximus, real horses and chariots and bold stuntmen, and is one of the biggest and most impressive action scenes ever filmed, forty years before convincing CGI. It still looks great and exciting.

Well done ladies for appreciating a true classic.

Happy to see you two ladies reacting to this classic masterpiece of a movie

It's the emotion that makes this movie great, and the symbolism of things like "The race is not over" and "I'm thirsty still". Life is a race, and it goes on after vengeance. Judah is thirsty for something, after he takes vengeance. He admits that his life has no purpose anymore.

One more thing: a talent was a measurement of gold. 34 kilos. So 1000 talents would be 34 tons of gold. Thats a few billion dollars today. And at a 4 to 1 odds, Messala's friends would have to pay 34 times 4 tons of gold.

One of the all time greats. I think the charriot race is still until today one of the best action scenes ever filmed. No CGI, no computers, just the real thing.

My favorite movie of all time; the sets, the acting, the first film to win 11 academy awards & was the only one for almost 40yrs until Titanic.

True colossal! 11 oscar and a place in the cinema hall of fame!

Vintage movies are often the best ones.

A classic, this is a film, I can always give it to myself.
