Plato's myth of the cave and the cave dwellers is the most vivid and powerful picture of human life, fate, and purpose. It is perhaps the most influential story in human history.

What is this myth about? At first glance, the answer seems obvious. It is a story about how, from childhood and throughout our lives, we are captives of illusions and false certainties.

Furthermore, this story is about how one day we must undergo a profound personal transformation.

Finally, this story is about how only through this transformation can we understand our purpose and recognize our fundamental responsibilities to the world and others.

This is a story of liberation, healing, and enlightenment. It is described as an exit from the cave into the open world, an emergence from darkness into light, a liberation from illusions and an education in true reality and conscious action.

But this myth is not so simple. It contains many mysteries and pitfalls. In this conversation, I suggest taking a more thoughtful and in-depth look at this story...
