D-VON!  GET THE TABLES!

It was so funny, because I remember my eldest brother being and Edge & Christian fan.  While my younger brother was a Hardy Boys fan, and I was Team 3D all the way!  We were so divided on this rivalry, it was unreal!

We need similar heat for current day tag division.

I'd like to give some more extended info on what happened next that most don't understand.
TLC was never meant to be a plug and play stipulation like Hell in a Cell or Elimination Chamber.
TLC was a performer dependent match concept that was specifically built around: The Hardy Boyz, The Dudley Boyz, and Edge & Christian.
Those teams didn’t just participate in TLC matches, they were the reason the matches worked in the first place.
That chemistry (and trust) is what allowed WWE to safely escalate the chaos from SummerSlam 2000 to WrestleMania X-Seven and beyond. But by mid-2002: Edge and Christian transitioned into singles runs. The brand split fractured the tag division. The Attitude Era tag scene that TLC depended on no longer existed.
TLC was never supposed to become a stipulation, it was supposed to die with the Attitude Era tag division.
Now WWE had to ask a real world question: Who on the 2002-2005 roster do you trust to recreate those spots? Because TLC isn’t just “Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.” It’s: Mid-air ladder spears, 20 foot table dives, blind trust timing on multi-man tower spots, and unprotected landings off unstable structures. Are you letting Mark Jindrak do a 20-foot ladder spear spot on SmackDown in 2003?
Without the original teams, who had years of experience working that exact style together, the match becomes exponentially more dangerous with far less upside. The life of the TLC match was never supposed to outlive the teams that built it.
Remember: this is post Owen Hart, post Droz, and WWE is already a publicly traded company at this point. The risk vs reward equation had changed.
So TLC quietly got shelved.
When it returns in 2006 (Edge vs Ric Flair on RAW), it’s no longer treated as a tag team demolition derby. It’s a tightly structured singles attraction match that production can control more safely. Edge is now a main event level talent. The company can and did trust him in that type of match.
In other words: TLC didn’t disappear because WWE forgot about it. It disappeared because the talent it was designed for was no longer there and without them, it wasn’t just hard to do, It was legitimately unsafe to replicate.
So Why Do We Get Multi Man TLC Matches Now?
If TLC was shelved in the early 2000s because it was too dangerous without the original teams, how did we end up in a world where: We’ve had a 5 on 3 Handicap TLC match (8-Man involved), The Shield’s debut match in WWE was a 6 Man TLC, and the two most recent TLC matches both have 6-Man involved.
Three major things changed:
1. TLC Became Institutionalized: In 2000-2002, TLC was a talent-driven stunt match. By the 2010s, TLC had become a standardized WWE stipulation with internal planning around: pre match stunt mapping, crash pad placement, camera blocking, rehearsed tower spots, agented sequences built to distribute risk. The match stopped being improvised chaos and became production managed choreography.
2. Risk Distribution Over Risk Concentration. Putting 6 to 8 people in the match actually makes certain spots safer, not more dangerous. Why? Because instead of one or two guys taking repeated high-risk bumps (like Jeff did in 2000-01), modern TLC spreads: ladder falls, table crashes, chair landings, and height based dives across multiple performers. More bodies = fewer repeat bumps per person. That’s a massive difference from the early era where 3-4 guys were absorbing the majority of the punishment.
3. Developmental Pipeline (Why The Shield Debuted In TLC). By 2012, WWE had FCW/NXT feeding in talent that had: drilled ladder match timing, practiced multi man structure, trained in safe fall mechanics, rehearsed coordinated spot sequences. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose weren’t being thrown into TLC blind on debut, they were being inserted into a pre produced, agented match built around controlled risk and veteran opponents. So WWE’s faith wasn’t in “rookies surviving chaos.” It was in: a match layout that minimized improvisation and maximized predictability.
Early TLC = stunt show built around 3 teams.
Modern TLC = rehearsed attraction match with distributed risk.
TLC didn’t evolve. WWE just figured out how to safely keep it alive.
Same name.
Completely different operating philosophy.

Would love to see a vid on the  Miz and Ziggler. The 'sometimes what you love doesnt always love you back' promo still gives me chills

I'll never understand why Vince always hated the tag team division. A tag team can be just as iconic for the business as individual superstars.

Mankind screaming "Tables, ladders, and chairs, oh my" still lives rent free in my head!

For the benefit of those with an internet connection a 20 minute promo video 😂

TLC 3 was forgotten even before the incident. But being between TLC 2 and TLC 4...it's easy to see why

We need more tag team craziness in today’s WWE man!!! Love this video, bro. Keep going!!!

The fact that Austin himself (in the Broken Skull Session with Bubba Ray Dudley) feels that TLC 2 in Wrestlemania should’ve main event, which I get why Austin VS. The Rock got one of the biggest buys ever for their main event. But the TLC 2 really stole the show.

Dope video bro I watched all of them growing up. Hardyz were my favorite

Your energy is so cool, man.

Watching your videos is like listening to that friend's older brother talk about how it was when he was your age.

I feel like I'm in a room running up some type of SvR, and I just don't want this summer to ever end.

Thanks for being here, dude

Dude your content is second to none 🔥

Oh this is hitting the spot tonight!

There is a reason in every WWE game I've gotten I create the TLC match at WM and Summerslam. These matches are iconic. Just sucks that we haven't gotten all 3 teams in a wwe game at the same time.

Thank you for the memories!!!
You are awesome

if only WWE didn't just treat teams as factions for temporary stories the tag team division would still be amazing in WWE. I can't remember the last great tag team championship match in the last decade from WWE. if they actually had these factions actually feud with tag teams for the belts it would be somewhat entertaining but at this point the bloodline has way too many members since the requirement is basically be Samoan or accepted by Roman Reigns which doesn't happen often.

Good content

Devon!.. Get the tables!!!!!!
I just needed to put this here haha. Thanks for the vid, great as always!
