In Today's Episode: (Viewer discretion is advised)
A 61-year-old drifter. A white van. A friendly golden retriever. And a trail of hikers who never made it home. Gary Michael Hilton murdered multiple victims across the Southeast, but there’s one detail that makes this case especially disturbing: Hilton recorded himself. From the Bryants in North Carolina to Cheryl Dunlap in Florida. To the fight-for-your-life endurance of Meredith Emerson in Georgia whose actions created the breadcrumbs that ultimately helped authorities catch him.

The girl that fought back was insanely smart, and it’s a shame she couldn’t have been rescued. But with the trail she left she made it significantly easier to put Gary on death row

Meredith Emerson is a hero. I could not even imagine the amount of mental fortitude she had. There could've been so many more victims if it weren't for Meredith, John Tabber, and the vigilant 911 caller that put him away.

The joy the caller to the police had brought me joy too

That poor woman, she fought so so hard to live. I just know she knew that when he took her to a second it was over but she literally saved his future victims by fighting for her life

the witness saying “yes, yes, we got him” really got me. that would be such an unreal feeling.

I love the call and how excited the caller was to see the man get caught, must have been an amazing feeling

Dandy did get adopted, by someone working on the investigation. They renamed him 'Danny' and stated that he displayed weird 'stalking' behavior on walks. Likely learned from his time with his previous owner.

I really like to think there's a reality out there where meredith killed him.

I remember reading this on reddit, so take it with a grain of salt, but apparently an investigator adopted the dog. The dog apparently displayed stalking behavior that disturbed the investigator so much that they had to train that behavior out of the dog.

The level of insanity to do anything like this is hard to fathom...

thank you for really increasing your coverage on predators these past few months, we see and appreciate you

Imagine how many ppl he probably killed before he started recording!

Imagine being retired, in your 80s, going on a walk with your wife trying to enjoy the serenity of nature...and this guy comes up and just kills your wife and starts beating you and dragging you to a van. Absolutely horrific.

My partner was close friends with Meredith Emerson. He still gets sad when her name is mentioned.

Imagine going to a garage sale and buying a box of tapes just to find out he had a 5th one 😭

To be clear: the death penalty costs tax payers more than life imprisonment does, all while introducing the possibility of murdering innocent people.

@Kenna3636 7 months ago

Heck yea! To that guy that called in and said he knew it was him! Bro saved lives by that

You're telling me, a promising military member had a sudden psychiatric break in the 1960s and then went on to become an antisocial murderer?

I bet he never volunteered for any experimental tests...

So basically the movie "Creep"?
Shame he stayed healthy for this long, somebody should've cut the strings keeping his hollow body up a long time ago.
But soon, i hope, knowing about his illness
