Welcome! In today’s video we travel from Orlando Florida to Philadelphia, PA in one of Amtrak’s newer VIEWLINER II Roomettes. We’ll take a look at the room and other car features as well as the dining. Thanks for joining me.

Route; Train 98, Silver Meteor Service

Scheduled travel time: 26hrs

Accommodation; First class, roomette

Amenities; Priority boarding, private room, car attendant; meals included, two free checked bags(availability varies by destination) in car shower/changing room access, lounge access on arrival in Philly (not utilized in this video)

Love the video! Enjoyed the ride and the music is great! Thank you 😊 I will be taking Amtrak from Orlando to Philadelphia in May. Looking forward to the Train trip! I was going to drive from Florida to PA and decided we will take the train for the first time and take away the stress from driving.

I took this from Trenton-Orlando last year and am going to do so again in July. I took the Viewliner I down to Orlando and the Viewliner II on the way back to NJ. My one concern was going to be how the restrooms would be maintained on the II. The first class crew are consistently keeping up with maintaining the restrooms for the 20+ hour trip. The crew that I had were all exceptional and I extremely enjoyed my roundtrip. The roomette was a perfect size for a single in my opinion and the 20+ hour journey felt much shorter than that

enjoyed it. looks like it was a good trip. i will check for other videos of yours. i did the forida to wilmington trip in coach. a long time ago i also made the trip in a room to ny. i would want a roomliner two as opposed to the old roomliner on my next trip. the auto trip is also a possibility.

Thank you so much for this. I knew the Viewliner II did not have the toilet in the room but I was unclear if it had a sink. I appreciate this review so much.

You missed a trick. There is a storage space above the door that your larger luggage would have fit in.

You are on a Viewliner 2 roommate the difference between that one at the Viewliner 1 is that the Viewliner 1 as a toilet right next to bed.

Thank you. Very enjoyable and informative. What is the total trip time? What times do the trains unusually travel this route? I'm thinking of taking Amtrak from Philadelphia to Orlando at some point just for the experience of train travel. Thanks so much!

There is a place to store luggage on the upper berth… you did not show that area…was there a reason? (It’s above the door side)

Bringing a full-sized suitcase into a roomette, even if only one person occupies the roomette, is kind of strange. Not advisable. A small carry-on with limited toiletries, change of underwear, clean shirt, and meds is all you need. Check the bigger bag, if you can.
