Why Did This Man Ask Allah to Let Him Farm in Jannah?

What if someone in Jannah, already given everything his soul could desire, asked his Lord for permission to do one ordinary thing from this world: to farm?

This is not a legend or a storyteller's invention. It is an authentic hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari, narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) told it one day while a man from the desert sat among the listeners.

In this video, we go through the hadith step by step: the man's request, the question his Lord asked him, the seed that grew faster than the blink of an eye, the harvest that stood like mountains, the words "Take it, O son of Adam, for nothing satisfies you," and why the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed at what the Bedouin said next.

We also look at why Imam al-Bukhari recorded this hadith twice, once in his Book of Agriculture and once under the chapter "The Speech of the Lord with the People of Jannah," and at what this story means for the seeds we plant in this world.

Everything in this video is taken from the Qur'an, authentic hadith, and recognised Sunni scholarly explanation. The man in Jannah is never named in any authentic source, so we have not given him a name.

If you could ask for one thing from this world in Jannah, what would it be? Tell us in the comments.
