I'm part of the MSA 220 C camp. As much as I like the saw (and I really DO like the saw), if I'd had more experience with one prior to purchase, I'd have spent the extra money for the MSA 260 C. The weight gain vs torque gain is disproportionate, in a really good way. That, and I wouldn't mind an 18" bar (16 max for the 220, says Stihl, and I like to keep in-tune what Stihl says).

I'm in the US, and do a lot of trail work - I've found the e-saws to be a really awesome tool to have along side my 201T as well as the bigger petrol saws. Especially on days we might be just make sure a trail is cleared all the way and not doing a shitload of cutting, the battery saw can be nice since they can just be recharged off the solar in peoples camping setups.

One thing I do dislike on quite a few battery saws is the timeout, even 5s is too short IMO. I've got a random variety of other saws and I think my favorite is the Milwaukee (though some safety folks have had an aneurysm over it never being "off") which is just... ready to go if there's a battery in it.

A fine looking saw. At work we have a mixture of Stihl battery and petrol equipment, which both have their place. I find the battery hedge trimmers great, light and easy to use. Also have the large back pack battery with blower and grass trimmer attachments. Not a fan of those, would like to try both versions with the batteries in this video.
Great videos everyone

I'm a fairly new convert to battery kit, only changed to Stihl hedgecutters at the moment coz i'm getting old lol well 57 not old really but much lighter to use over long periods, have used the little Stihl 160 i think, cracking bit of kit for cutting up small fallen branches etc, have heard good things about the 300 from full time forestry guys, cheers

I've been on battery saw for 6 years now but I do trail clearing so run time isn't an issue. And being so quiet is a massive upside as well. Usually for most applications those are secondary considerations. But moving place to place electric is just so easy to use without the start up.

Seems like a great bit of gear! In my case a bit hard to justify though as I already have a big petrol saw and a tiny cordless arborist's saw. But seeing that even the smaller one gets a lot of action and makes a lot of sense in some situations, who knows, something in between... Okay now I'm just trying to convince myself to get a beautiful new chainsaw 🙂

Hi Josh, Good review on the new battery powered Stihl MSA 260 chain saw, very impressed with a 80% charge in less than 10 minutes. I know you were charging up in the back of your Transit on an inverter did it take a lot of power from the battery and did your van started up ok. As always a great tool review, catch you soon take care.

Looks good, As an Arborist i'd consider getting this saw. I'd put it akin to the older 026/MS260 in visual performance.

What size is the bar that coming with this saw and what about possibility for installing 16” or 20” bar on it ??

When are you getting them Stihl MSA 360?

There were several times when you stopped cutting for longer than 5 seconds. That was the reason I got rid of my Makita top handled saw and wouldn't buy another saw with a timed cut out. I do like the oil warning though.
