Ghostrunner 2 Loves You

Point Kid

"Does he... piss?"

At long last I have finally created the Ghostrunner 2 video! I had been getting a lot of requests to do this since the GR1 video and while I really wanted to be able to give this game the proper Point Kid treatment, you may realize as you watch that I was unfortunately unable to do that. There only a few model demos, there aren't any little joke animations and there are several points where I say "we'll talk about it later" only for those parts to never show up later in the video... there are a bunch of factors that went into this that I get into towards the end of the video, but I still tried to do what I could to make it entertaining. I firmly believe Ghostrunner 2 is a massive step up from the first game and am happily prepared to debate anyone in the comments who feels otherwise, and I'm also curious what you guys have to say about my anti-cyberpunk rant towards the end section (that was also kinda rushed and could have been formulated way better and if you have anything to say about that I will read/respond to it too!) Anyway, thank you all again for watching, I'll be back as soon as I can!

It is explained in the first game that Jack is basically a lab grown human turned into a cyborg, he was not an original human turned into a Ghostrunner. I forgot which but the architect tells him that in one of the cyber void levels when Jack repeatedly asks him and he says "There was no "before", you were grown like this, you ARE your implants."

I love the fact that Point Kid is engaged in their own creative direction, and is deciding on your own how they want to develop their channel, I do hope that they will at least sprinkle in some of their 'basic story summaries' (which i found to be the perfect mix of lore-diving and story explanation among a sea of people drawing their own conclusions and only describing things that feed into their own view of a story).

YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS we have the continuation of the story. Wonderful day it is

This is actually such an underrated game there's scarcely any YouTube content on it currently.
Thank you so much for covering it. You made my weekend.

I'm close to finishing the video but I had to comment about cyberpunk (and hey if this is mentioned ahead well, still is engagement) and I think Mike Pondsmith phrase about Cyberpunk being a genre when you don't save the world but save yourself is the most accurate depiction of why I love it, oppressive odds against the banality of evil, fighting against a system that would deny you of you, your body, taste, mind, soul, and finding in it, your own salvation, your own self realization, even if it is dying knowing you tried

Damn it you bastard, you convinced me. I am a big appreciator of the whole neon and trashcan fires vibe of cyberpunk, so when you were mentioning how the cityscape local was only alright while I was looking at footage of a damn good cityscape I was heavily disagreeing with you. However you are absolutely correct, and I cannot help but agree with all your points in the pipe smoking section of this video. Cyberpunk has become an aesthetic alone at this point, which isn't inherently a bad thing, as GR2 demonstrates, you can just have fun and enjoy it, however the roots of the subgenre, and punk as a whole, is a rebellion against an oppressive status quo and real people fighting real, implacable forces they have no choice but to weather together. The problem I think you pointed out is stories chin wagging at you about how they totally are both cyber and punk while just throwing in some quotes about wealth disparity and an occasional corporation jab. Also bringing up half life was genuinely eye opening on how much the subgenre ignores the themes its supposed to uphold.
Anyway enough rambling and reiterating points you already made, absolutely stellar video man! And stellar channel as a whole! I have yet to find a video that I have not walked away with at least something to think about, especially your recent review ones. Even in points I disagree on, I can absolutely see where you are coming from and, like this occasion, sometimes end up siding with your view in the end.
Good luck with the games design class dude, it is incredibly fulfilling but also it will hurt you and all your loved ones. I am doing a full course on it and unreal is best my best friend and fucking Brutus. Take care of yourself man and can't wait for the next video!

@Nobyorder 10 months ago

I have finished the video now and just wanna say I would wait wait 3 years for your videos if I had to.

I love how you make the videos with thr background music and everytime there is a intro animation I always find it really interesting and I don't ever find myself getting bored throughout the video unlike most other videos I watch.

Thank you

Ill be fully honest, when the time comes where i am dragged from myself and in a miserable void of hatred. i end up on your videos, primary the trepang videos. Pointkid, thank you. I believe i have been likely been more awake due to simply watching your videos once i get beyond my social ques once im completely drained. I appreciate your content heavily. and i believe if i give it enough time ill fix myself with your content once in a while. you have 4+ hours on trepang analysis. and for me. getting occupied in my did (i assume this is my issue due to heavy memory gaps along with grand attention deficits. Thank you tons man. Thank you for being a source of my content for keeping holding on. Ty, ill be around. ill be fine, i just want to voice my honesty a little tlo much since terraria was updated. and my modded group doesnt manage to inv me properlöy. so im writing this. Thank you tons man, much love to your community. i havent heard them but your voice along the videos usually keeps my mind calm. thank yoiu tons

Kira, Connor and Bakunin all appear in the Hel DLC from the first game.

Kira only appears in two audiolog collectables, acting as an assistant to Mara in developing the spider creeps and Hel units. The audiologs reveal the high death rate of the creeps and the faulty design of the Hel units' brain/cortex which would send a constant flow of uncontrolled emotions, basically giving a robot anger issues.

Connor was the leader of the Climbers rebellion (or at least a higher up). An audiolog reveals he was an agent/smuggler sent by Mara to spy on the Climbers.

Bakunin was a Key commander who opposed Mara and wanted to join the rebellion alongside his men, and the first boss of the DLC. Level 2 asks you to not kill anyone as all the enemies are still considered Keymaster guards and Mara will make a comment based on your kill count. (The objective also changes from "Try avoiding casualties" to "KILL EVERYONE" if you kill too many people). He somehow survives after having an arm cut off and being stabbed through the chest (Mara also scolds you the next level as "pulling that blade out gutted him like a fish")

I'd just like to add that ghostrunner 1 and ghostrunner 2 Jack feel so much different. For example in ghostrunner 1, Jack is like speed itself (especially with the sensory microbooster my beloved) and every single enemy killed feels like you're slashing through a person. Whereas, in ghostrunner 2, Jack feels like a strong guy who can be considered speedy. He just feels more slow and brutish, also it makes it feel like an enemy killed is just another mosquito swatted.

Glad to see you enjoy making these projects as much as we love watching them, keep up the amazing work!

25:58 for those who don't know bekunen was the leader of a security squad that had a ghost runner in it (A.K.A. the boss known as HEL). However in the HEL DLC from the first ghost runner game she was abducted, modified, and copied mutliple times by mara to aid in her uprising. He was a boss fight that had HEL cut off his arm and kill him (hence his cybernetic red limb in GR2), however he survived and went into hiding after the events of the first game. You can also find HEL's head in a jar in the doctors lab on a shelf.

Why doesn't Ghostrunner 2 use his penance stare? Where's his motorcycle? Is he stupid?

@MakutaArty1987 10 months ago (edited)

23:08 actually in the first game, in Mara's lab, Jack asks Architect about who Jack was before he became a Ghostrunner, to which Architect just tells him that there wasn't "before". Jack, like any Ghostrunner, was raised in a tube and augmented before he came online. So he was literally born as a Ghostrunner

It might be the ADHD or S.C. mds kicking in, but this video about a game is so joyful, genuine and relaxing that I shed a few tears.

1) No fake emotions (those over the top click bait channels that yell.
2)No rants about media being "woke or not" just for including somewhat diverse characters.
3) No tangent about difficulty balancing, (ex: Silksong).
4) Not in saying offensive stuff (I got bit worried at "robot church", thank you for staying focused on the game itself.)

You know what, I considered your channel to be okay before.
But looking back at your SCP 5K videos and this, you're now my top 5 favorite game reviewers.
I'm adding this to my favorite videos playlist and emotional video playlist.
