I think it is worth mentioning that at 2:21 we see that the 1850 SECONDARY bowl is meant to be set lower than the primary bowl. Look at where the holes are in relationship to the lines. Anyway, I forgot about that as my Brawler 650 uses the same bowl fore and aft, hence dual threads and dual sight glasses. I'll have to look at my Quick Fuel 450s on my tunnel ram for sight window height. 👍🏼

Walking down memory lane, had a Holley on my all my Corvette's back in the 70's and 80's never had the window, yep everything just the way you said, another good video, have a nice Sunday and catch you soon😁😁

I have been running 2 Holley 750 dbl. pmpr's on a Tunnel Ram with a Stroker 451 BB Mopar for 44 years, and I run the stock fuel bowls with old-style MOROSO screw-in clear sight plugs.......... On those stock fuel bowls, you are correct, I have to run the fuel up to the very bottom of the sight plugs, while rocking the car so I can see the fuel, and then adjust up one flat of the nut before I lock the screw back down. I am able do it without the car running because I run electric fuel pumps with an on-off switch tied into the ignition run position. One thing I noticed when you adjusted the fuel level in the bowls, you do not need to turn the locking screw so far out, you just need to crack the screw loose to make the adjustment and it will just trickle fuel without running everywhere. The trick I have used for 44 years is to lube the gasket for the Needle & Seat and also the adjuster nut with Vaseline on both sides and then install the screw again, the gaskets will never stick, and it will seal just fine when you lock the screw back down.

Thanks. I saw a thing Steve Morris put up recently about carbs and he had a bloke who used to work for holley. He said that raising or lowering the float was a way of tuning without the need to change jets. Just a thought.

I ran my Holley carb for years & it would fire almost instantly without giving it any gas - even if it had been sitting for a few days. I’m not running a choke. I recently replaced the accelerator pump & now the car seems to want me to pump the gas several times before firing. I may have inadvertently altered the float level while replacing the accelerator pump because I’m not seeing gas when I remove the front plug & rock it. Is slower starting when cranking a sign of low gas in the front bowl…..or? Thank you.

I got a brawler carb on SBC and broke #8 intake push rod and broke exhaust rocker stud upon disassemble noticed fuel sitting on top of intake valve so I think cylinder hydro locked causing damage can this be from floats draining down when sitting.

Nice video! Something else to note is a lot of the newer quickfuel/holley/etc fuel bowls have a chickenhead shaped casting line that runs right through the sight glass like a center line. Great feature.

Also, any thoughts/experience setting up float heights on a 2x4 setup? (or whatever other info you feel like sharing?.

Overall The engine slants down about 1/2" from front to back...so I assume to see 1/8 to 1/4" in fuel level from one side of the bowl to the other?
