Lore drop for Hush! The game hypes Gwyn to be the final boss by telling you how he established the Age of Fire, built Anor Londo and ruled the kingdom with might. As you progress through the game, you see how much of that kingdom was an illusion now that the Age of Fire is dying. You fight Nito, the Witch of Izalith, Seath the Scaleless, and the Four Kings of New Londo  and have this assumption that Gwyn is the mightiest of these bosses.

Only to find a fragile, empty husk of a once great king protecting what small embers he has left of his First Flame. Followed by the melancholy music upon entering his arena, it just shows how tragic it all is with death and becoming hollow due to his fear of not letting the flame die to not go into the Age of Dark, which is what the Pygmy from the beginning of the game represents. Your character is a descendant of that furtive Pygmy and you were meant to bring the Dark Soul forth for the Age of Dark. But that's an ending for a different playthrough.

Also side note, if you saved Solaire, you could have summoned him to fight Gwyn with you and upon defeating him, he gets sent to his world and links the fire— becoming the sun he's sought for all this time.

Fun fact about gwyn’s theme, it is played entirely on the white keys of the piano, because gwyn is afraid of the dark

I just beat the game bro. I played bloodborne before ds1, so when i started this i thought it was going to be horrible and i had a hard time getting used to the mechanics and timings it was miserable. I restarted like 3 times. I decided to commit, and i pushed through. I just finished the game over the course of maybe 3 weeks. This was so peak. I cant believe i was missing out on these games for so long.

By defeating Gwynn, you locked yourself into NG+. You gotta play back through to hit the DLC, if I'm not mistaken.

Genuinely shocked no-one pointed that out to you, or I might have mentioned it myself. You also missed the Painted World. So make sure to hit that as well, if you do NG+ to check out the DLC.

Really excited to see you play through the rest of them. DS2 is different, and punishing, but doesn't deserve all the negative rep it gets.

If you love the OST and Linear elements, DS3 is going to be heaven for you. It is the game that first broke me into the series/genre. And still stands as my absolute favorite of the bunch. Patiently awaiting that run. It's going to be incredible!

Mad props for not only going back to your Claymore but also killing Gwyn without parrying.

Your playthrough has been super entertaining for just being so unique man. Fat rolling, not using Black Knight weapons, killing bosses in some of the most unique fashions I have seen... very good job mate, I'm absolutely down to watch you play more FROMsoft if you chose to do so.

That said, yea DS1 DLC would be nice to see before lay down DS1.

I really recommend playing the DLC, because with its bosses it’s one of the best in the entire Souls series.

You faced Gwin, Lord of Cinder. Once known as the Lord of Sunlight, is now a mere shadow of his former self, now completely unable to use any of is devastating miracles of sunlight. Gwin gived up most of his soul, and his powers with it, to feed the flame, and keep the embers alive to prevent [???]. Now what was left of his soul wasn't enough to keep the flame properly alive, someone with a strong soul was needed to sacrifice himself and rekindle the flame a blaze. You. The profecy, the bells, the Sen Fortresses, everything was designed by the primordial serpents to find another proper candidate to sacrifice in the First Flame, and to make it, or better, to make his soul strong enough to rekindle that primordial fire. The profey was just made up by them, if you truly were the  chosen one, why there were others in the fortress that can only be access after "the chosen one" rings the 2 bells of awakening? or in anor Londo? No, the profecy was only to bring candidates to the trail grounds, you were never the chosen one, just the first to succeed. And so you did! You obtained the souls of the lords and finally sacrificed yourself in the flame... But why? Do you even know what you sacrificed yourself for? Do you truly understand what this mean for the world? What is really that you avoided? Peraps, Young Hollow, you will find out in the 2, that takes place in a far, far future.

I sure was refreshing seeing someone actually fight against Gwyn, it's been so long since it's not just a parry fest, congrats on the series and looking forward the dlc

the fact you're fat rolling, not using lock-on and you're this far into the game crushes my soul a bit, but good job Hush. DLC next!

This was a bit hurried in my opinion this couldve been two parts but Im not sure how long it took you to kill three of the great souls but yeah awesome shit man cant wait for ds2 and sure it was awesome. Peak content for dinner.

You missed it but if you would have cut Seath’s tail you would have gotten one of the best weapons in the game, the Moonlight Greatsword
