Joan Risch: The Vanishing in Plain Sight

PEMpodcast

This week, Victoria and Sandy examine the baffling disappearance of Joan Risch, who vanished from her suburban home in Lincoln, Massachusetts more than 60 years ago. A kitchen marked by a significant amount of blood—and no clear answers—left investigators questioning whether Joan was abducted, killed, or staged her own disappearance.

As the case unfolds, Victoria shares her intuitive impressions and explores the possibility that Joan’s story may not be what it seems.

Victoria also highlights her latest book release, Coaching Fire, the fifth installment in her Life Coaching series, and shares a memorable anecdote from a recent client reading.

Wow. I went to Pompei in Italy a few years back and Mount Vesuvius was smoking the day we arrived. I had a feeling of dread at Pompei the whole day there, and couldn’t wait to leave. Now I know why. As we approached and we were advised the volcano was smoking a bit today. I thought ‘oh brother this is just too much’ plus it was so hot that day. Waited all my life to see Pompeii. My holiday was eat, pray …..and survive a Volcano.

This Podcast was great. Thank you both so much for all of the work that you put into these.
I have 2 sons and I could never leave them behind. However, unless you walk in someone's shoes, you never truly know what they are going through. You both look wonderful as always. ❤❤❤❤

What a tragic story, this just goes to show how rape and abuse cause lifelong trauma, it can never be healed even if some pretend to. I hope that she eventually found some peace and lived a meaningful happy life, maybe even remarried and had more children. It’s an option for her children to get DNA tests and possibly find other siblings and thus learn what became of their mother.

From someone else with a psychic eye, I also feel Joan is still living. I always feel that.

Great podcast. Very thought provoking.
Would you consider covering either of these missing persons cases: Michael Negrete or Maura Murray?

But on the other side, Joan took no money, id, etc. She did not take her car. Dogs could not track her walking down the road, suggesting she was taken away in another car. If she staged this, she staged it in a way to be very traumatizing to her daughter. Abandoned a 2-year-old in wet diapers, when by all accounts she was an attentive mother. Couldn't there have been a more straightforward way to walk away? Make some excuse about going shopping (taking her purse, a few clothes, the car) when the kids are with a sitter, and just not come back? And what about the unidentified handprints? It is truly a mystifying case.

The bloody palm print in the kitchen that wasn’t hers … the bloody thumbprint not hers on the car, makes me think she didn’t plan this. Planning to leave when h have a dentist appt, a play date at your house … the dry cleaners and milk man appts that day… why would she do that day? It was so busy . Hmmm. I enjoyed this 💖

🙈omg I don’t have kids & allowing a four year old navigate themselves into the house & as the responsible adult not having confirmation that the child was safe inside & received by a parent/adult was like….record scratch…. What?!

She definitely is not living now. She has connected with me for the last 7 years. Also her birthday was May 12 not August 4. The house fire her parents died in was February 1939 when she was 8 1/2 almost 9.
