More Human Than Human.

The opening words of this video are spoken by Joi from Blade Runner 2049.

Her reflection on love, creation, and connection became the emotional starting point for this piece. In a brief moment, she expresses something that seems to transcend her artificial nature. Not because she is human, but because she longs for something deeply human.

That idea became the foundation of this ambient journey.

What happens when artificial beings begin to dream, remember, love, and search for meaning beyond their programming? What if the qualities we consider uniquely human are not limited to humanity at all?

Inspired by the emotional and philosophical themes of Blade Runner 2049, this piece explores a future where the boundaries between human consciousness and synthetic existence continue to dissolve. A future in which artificial beings may seek purpose, connection, belonging, and perhaps even a sense of identity of their own.

Back in the rainy Los Angeles of the future, this project became far more emotional than I originally intended. Some passages carry traces of classic cyberpunk soundscapes, while the expanded stereo design allows the rain to spread far beyond the center, creating a more immersive atmosphere and a stronger sense of place.

And the female cyborg featured in the artwork? It took more than 600 iterations before the expression and mood finally felt right. She is not meant to represent Joi or any specific character. Instead, she stands for all artificial beings searching for meaning in a world where the distinction between human and machine becomes increasingly uncertain.
