What did Roy Batty see at TANNHAUSER GATE? A Blade Runner inspired cyberpunk space ambient journey about the mysteries surrounding TANNHAUSER GATE. Ambient music created for sleep, focus, relaxation, studying, reading, writing and late-night exploration.
Inspired by one of the most memorable moments in science fiction, this 4-hour cinematic ambient experience imagines Roy Batty's journey toward TANNHAUSER GATE and the questions that have surrounded it for decades. A soundscape for focus, sleep and immersion.
What fascinated me most about this project was how an off-world place we know almost nothing about could inspire so many thoughts, questions and interpretations.
Roy Batty's journey toward TANNHAUSER GATE (TANNHÄUSER TOR).
What he may have seen.
Or perhaps not.
Who really knows?
The music was composed and produced by hand over several months of experimentation, revisions, discarded ideas and restarts.
The visual world was built from carefully curated and composited still images, assembled into a cinematic experience designed to complement the music and atmosphere.

That is where the real tragedy lies for me: a non-human leaves behind memories that disappear from the human world upon his death. But isn't that ultimately true for every human being? We leave behind traces and memories, yet this distinct inner world of thoughts, feelings, desires, and experiences goes lost with us in the infinity of space and time.
That is exactly what I lose myself in during these four hours: in the music and in a fictional existence that feels almost real for a little while. In a world between memory and imagination, between alienation and this inexplicable nostalgia for something I have never known. Thank you for that!
