$130.00 Superman's paycheck...was sold at an auction recently for $160,000.00! I just interviewed William Berhardt of " The Superman Wars" on my YT channel...it was so sad to learn of the creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and their battle for creator rights. William said that before Jerry died...he saw a premiere that finally listed their names in the credits, and he cried...a lawsuit that lasted from the 1950s to 2016! I found this episode interesting, because I've exercised my rights to reprint sci-fi short stories from the 1950s, '60s and 70's written by my stepdad, John Hayden Howard,  in new book compilations (see Gremmie's Reef; sequel out soon) with a small publisher.

Hayden Howard (pen name) was internationally-known 50+ years ago, even published in a compilation by Isaac Asimov. Via extensive internet searches, I found all works of his previously published and copywrited under his own name. Some works from the 50s have gone into Public Domain. I may renew his copyrights from the 60s and 70s for his individual stories, before those also pass into Public Domain. In his will and trust, my stepdad bequeathed me as is executor of all he possessed, under any name used by him. For my own literary will I'm getting more specific and it will pour-over into my existing trust.

One aspect you didn't mention was the use of nonfiction material still marketable as reprints. I sold over a hundred magazine articles in the past, many of them 1-3 times as reprints, combined some in books published by Tydale House, then republished them again as articles after the books went OOP. I'm giving reprint rights to my own literary executors, as well as rights to modify material and add their own names. For example, an old (now dated) book of mine, The Power of Parent-Child Play, could be updated by someday by my daughters under their own names, should they choose to do so, as co-Creative/Literary managers designated in my will. One is a teacher, the other a marketing expert, and both excellent writers. They can also simply resell/republish my articles if they choose, as much as still marketable (on parenting, writing, and historical.)

Grandparent scenarios: I recently found (via a state unclaimed funds site) unpaid royalties from a university textbook my grandfather wrote decades ago. I now have an application to claim those funds as his granddaughter. It's only a few thousand dollars, which I'll split between all living heirs mentioned in his own will, so won't amount to much, but will be a fun little surprise gift from Grandpa to my siblings and cousins.  I'm also working on compiling unpublished works of my grandmother for a nonfiction historical book she aspired to have published, and didn't live to see that happen. Any profits I would choose to split also among her heirs.

I'm 76 I have 12 books self published. They earn peanuts and wouldn't be worth anyone's time to market, not to mention reporting for tax for such small amount.. None of my family would have a clue what to do with them and wouldn't really want the trouble. if I named them in a will. Goodness know what will happen.. You cant set them as free on Amazone either for them to continue to be published.

Question if someone who knows the answer drop by. I want my son and daughter (in their 40’s) to inherit my books,LLC. I want them to own it, but not run it because they have mental health issues that prevent them from being consistent in ways that are not good for business.

Question:Can I have a trust administered by a financial agent to manage the finances and someone who knows publishing to actually run the business?

in future - could one just buy a server to run for 70 years in future and have seat up AI agents continue doing the publishing work and continue at it, while the heirs just get the earnings - if any?
