River's personal quest to find his nephew is not Silence of the Lambs, it's based on a 2000 movie called The Cell. A thriller in which a therapist, played by Jennifer Lopez, has to dive into the mind of a comatose serial killer so she can discover the location of victims that haven't been found yet. The whole thing leads to a lot of mindfuckery and split personality and dream sequences bleeding into reality kinda shenanigans, but the core premise of the movie is identical to River's quest. A killer who went comatose, you have to find the clues you need from his mind, a remote location where he keeps his victims who are hooked up to grotesque machinery, the murderer's own past is fraught with his own personal trauma that bleeds into the case.
It's uncanny how many resemblances there are, leading me to believe that the whole quest has to be a direct reference to that movie, even though I don't really hear that many people talking about it. If you're not familiar, give the movie's summary a read or watch a recap of it (or watch the whole thing, if you're so inclined. It's a so-so flick, though) and you'll see what I mean with how similar it is to River's quest.

At first I thought this would be the dullest imaginable content, but I was just looking for something to listen to while doing chores. In actuality, video uses cold info to illustrate the bleakness of the setting without the narrator having to rhapsodise too much. Really great stuff.

Speaking of laws in Night City, during "The Pickup" I scanned Royce, who as you can imagine has a laundry list crimes, one of them was 2 counts of Corpocide. New to me.

"In a week sixty people were killed" - it's like Tuesday afternoon for V.

Whew; that Peter Pan opening I never saw, because I guess I chose the dialogue choices that took me down the path to saving Randy.
When you think about it, to the Corps, we're all ranyons.

I just realized that Peter Pan is a lot like the looksmaxxers in his ‘radical’ (putting it lightly ofc) approach to optimizing the human form

Kurt Hansen is so cool i dont know why they made us end him

I hope all is well with you 🙏 you deserve everything and more fam. I enjoy people like you. Every video is a pleasure and I enjoy how you explore these ideas rather than assert them as truth or not. Post college you remain one of my favorite modern philsophers.

NGL, I didn't even realize a lot of people didn't think that Netwatch is extremely sketchy.

I agree on net-watch!

Intriguing intel well presented. Keep up the good work.

Top tier refresh

As a wise man once said, if you aren't on the run from Netwatch are you really living?

Also, anyone who is doing a deep dive into the lore of Cyberpunk very much needs to read William Gibson's Neuromancer at a minimum, though I'd recommend reading the entire Sprawl Trilogy.

Gave you a double hype. Love your content

You definitely cannot trust Netwatch.

0:55 ay that’s where I am!

Good to see your vids again brother YouTube hasn’t been showing them to me
But onto the topic with netwatch I don’t think they’re trying to prevent rogue ai’s as that’s a failure I think they’re trying to stop the inevitable while turning a blind eye to militech research to weaponize them
I am curious though while murder is considered a excicutable offence dose it lessen due to working for the nusa ( phantom liberty) or the ncpd during their side missions?

I skipped your Edgerunners 2 video because that thing is an Info hazard...

these regular videos are what I crave for

That 'Erebus' thing. The gun with the AI. That sounds very much like the sword 'Stormbringer'.
