Hello there. I actually now own both an A7V and A7R VI now. Currently using them for different things but will have to see if that lasts. Bought the A7V when it first came out but I also owned the A7RV. Recently sold my A7RV and got the A7RVI in a used package at a great price so I went ahead with it. Appreciate your video. Thank you and take care.

I'm enjoying my A7V. It's my first full frame camera, it's not basic in my eyes.

Useful Sony comparison, am impressed with Sony A7r6 (8K) both very useful for various subjects, situations. Informative review thanks Park Cameras.

I had both and honestly never even opened the a7r6 before returning it.  The A7V 4K is so insanely good and the image sizes are great.  Being in the Sony ecosystem, I valued having the same battery as my other Sony cameras.  My high resolution is X2Dii so this was the absolute perfect fit for me.

I have both and both are incredible cameras. A7V is fantastic for the money and can do almost everything I need. But A7RVI is a beast. Crop, fantastic battery  and EVF, dual slots...

The deciding factor for me was ability to shoot clean, low light video. The A7v’s 8000 high base puts it in FX 3 territory and the results have been stunning. If I were a stills shooter, the A7RVI is hard to beat and it adds some nice upgrades. .

I rented the A7R VI last month. I liked it but I'm going for the A7 V instead for my next purchase. File sizes are just way too big and I rarely pixel peep enough to justify the extra resolution.

The video is incorrect about the card slots, BOTH the A7RV and the A7RVI have 2 CF Express A and 2 SDXC card slots.   However, only one of either type can be loaded into each slot at the same time.

As a professional corporate and architectural photographer the camera I use every day is the A7 V, because my clients rarely ever need anything like 67mp and shooting that resolution will slow down the workflow and eat storage space. I have now just bought an A7R VI, for several of the reasons mentioned here. For video projects, both are fine and the footage cuts together well. The reason I didn't jump onto the A7R VI when it came out is that it no longer has the option to shoot medium and small RAW files like the A7R V, A1 and A1 II have. If it had the medium RAW setting, it would be the only camera I would ever pick up right now. If I had to run my business with only one of these cameras, I would keep the A7 V.

Hi!
Love your channel, and your content❤️
I sold my A7R V, and my FX3, plus all my prime lenses: 24, 35, 85mm F/1.4 GM lenses, and my 50mm F/1.2 GM LENS.
Bought the A7R VI and the A7V, and the 28-70, and the 50-150mm F/2 GM
Best thing i ever did!!

If you could buy only one, which would you? Thank you.

The A7RVI just seemed too much to me and in any case 33MP is enough for me (similar to my Pentax K-1 which is 36MP) so went with A7V. I would rather spend money on glass (eventually). I have the G 20-70 f4 (cool all rounder lens!), will likely get the new 100-400 f5.6-8, and can use a whole bunch of my Pentax lenses adapted (DFA*50 f1.4, DFA 21 f2.4, DFA 70-210 f4, A 50 f1.2, FA 100 f2.8 macro, F* 300 f4.5, FA 77, FA 43 and FA 31 limited). Enjoying the fast & accurate auto focus on a small and light camera (have got a small  Shimoda bag and its great to hike around with). While I'm enjoying the A7V (feel like I'm moving forward again with my photography), I do miss the ergonomics, Hyper Program mode (P mode to start with then lock either aperture or lock shutter speed by turning one dial or the other - why don't all cameras do this!) and built in RAW development (HDR images in camera etc etc) on the K-1 though.

Sold my A7V for A7R6 😊
The 7R is some steps up and I like ability of cropping .

Stacking does not improve image quality.  That said, Sony concentrated the stacking on the A7Rvi to maintain as much quality as possible rather than speed. The stacked layer does processing rather than have the DRAM which makes the other fully stacked sensors so much faster in readout speed than the A7Rvi.  So, a little bit of rolling shutter is the trade-off compared to the A1ii.  In exchange, you get higher image quality.  That said, I shoot fast moving subjects, so the A1ii handles them better with twice the autofocus calculations. If I was shooting landscapes mostly, the A7Rvi would be the better choice.  As for cropping...yes the A7Rvi is the king.  I don't do much cropping typically, so the A1ii is more than adequate.

Oh....and seriously, the A7Rvi does NOT shoot 30fps continuously.  No Sony camera does that.  Not even the A9iii which can shoot up to 120fps in burst mode.  Continuous?  About 15fps.  So, all these cameras use burst mode above 15fps.  How long the burst mode lasts depends on file size and buffer size.  The A7Rvi has a good size buffer and can last a few seconds, then it slows down considerably.  The A1ii is the same, only it clears its buffer much faster than the A7Rvi.  Bottom line....if you want to shoot a lot at the highest frame rates, the A1ii or the A9iii are better equipped to do that than the A7Rvi.

As my backup/video camera, I did choose the A7V.  Why?  It has the same great subject recognition that the A7Rvi has. If anything, it had better heat management for shooting video.  It down samples from 7k when shooting 4k.  The A7Rvi down samples from 5k and then pixel bins.  Easy choice for me.  I'm not shooting 8k as the files are big enough in 4k for me.  If I want 8k, I can use the A1ii, but I won't.

The a7v has dual gain mode too

The A7R VI is compromised in 30fps stills, you either get 14-bit raw with only 30 AF/AE calculations per second (and slower sensor readout / more rolling shutter), or 12-bit raw with 60 AF/AE calculations per second (and less rolling shutter). The A7V has no such image quality compromises.

The thumbnail made me think Sony released a new TLR for a moment 🤣

If the SONY A7V had the same EVF as the SONY A7RVI, then the SONY A7V would be a "no-brainer" !

Thanks for the video and glad you mentioned it as people need to be aware! A7R VI tops out 1/8000 in electronic! This is a massive downside if you use 1.2 and 1.4 glass out in sunny daylight and dont want to rely on always having NDs and C-PLs with you. It limits the camera, at least for my use case and I have heard of plenty more people saying the same. Coming from the A1 Series (with 1/32 000) the A7V with its 1/16 000 is generally good enough! In the end I ended up selling the R VI as the "always bring a filter" situation became too much, and now I am super happy to have the A7V next to my A1 II. They feel "much closer" in technology and for some reason the A7V partially stacked even got a few milliseconds faster readout than the fully stacked A7R VI. Not a massive difference but I take any numbers I can get! The third situation is really the new battery. Its long living yes and great if you only use that single body, But it means two different platforms if you use multiple Alpha bodies. That said, the A7R VI is great camera with insane image quality and to me the stand out feature really was the EVF, it made my A1 II look like absolute garbage in comparison!

A7v❤
