What we learned about Serena today: - she’s a loot goblin - she does not like spider adjacent creatures - bogs are gross - she’s down bad for the vampire twink
Larian's last game, Divinity Original Sin 2, had a play style called Barrelmancy where you would throw or teleport containers to deal damage based on weight.
10:15 that’s how I am in Skyrim and Oblivion. My inventory is filled by me looting my enemies to sell all their armor, weapons, and trash, and I have to slow walk back to my horse to fast travel to a shop.
If you examine Ethel she has a fey life trait or something like that and it doesn’t pop up for her clones. That’s how I figure out which is her every time
So for the reason there’s so much racism in Baulder’s Gate 3 is largely due to DnD which Baulder’s Gate 3 is based off of. Most if not all races in DnD have canonical traits for how their race acts (of course players and DMs can decide how their characters for players or npcs act) Githyanki are typically a extremely materialistic and brutal society in service of and due to their ruler Valaketh. For Drow they’re typically extremely brutal, evil and cruel matriarchal society due to the goddess they worship being extremely evil.
I hate that he killed the owlbear cub and its mother! 😭
I never kill the mother but if you go in the cave and leave I guess goblins kill the owlbear mother because you can rescue the cub at the goblin camp. I always do that because its nice for scratch to have a friend 🙂
I had a campaign where I played with a few peeps, they kept on going off for like 30 minute jaunts and crap so I often spent that time picking up and throwing bodies to paint the ground red.
One time I had enough free time to coat about half the mountain pass starting area red… After a while it got old and the bodies in Act 2 do r usually have the crimson I needed so I picked up a new hobby. Corpse collecting, starting with the Stalker in the Gauntlet of Shar I would collect the corpses of interesting enemies and carry them around, sometimes throwing them around in public places.
Also if you help the tieflings with the racist druid Zevlor lets you have his gloves, when healing it gives Blade Ward to your targets, yes plural which translates to halving physical damage. So I gave them to Shadowheart for most of the game and turned mass healing word into a panic button that trivialised most encounters.
As for the Grove I knew about the attack plot line… but that was considerably less interesting to me than playing discount MGS and murdering everyone at the goblin camp. No tiefling collateral, plenty of locked doors and choke points for a cloud of daggers and thunderwave off chasms. Then built Dror Ragzlin a new throne out of smokepowder and waved him goodbye.
I like spiders, as a straight man idk if I like Shadowheart or Karlach more, and my first character is a Drow Bard. I liked how as a Drow we can talk goblins into not attacking us. Then attack them later after looting the area. Edit, I forgot about Minthara cause I haven't played in awhile, she is definitely my favorite of the women. I still haven't played this in multiplayer, I don't have any friends on PC. All of them are on PlayStation and they're not talking to me for what reason idk, they aren't unfriending me and just not talking to me. Not the first time it's happened, they just don't feel like talking for a year every few years and when we talk again we don't even bring it up and go on like it never happened. Back to BG3, I'm stuck at the hag's illusory wall. Idk how to get passed it, I figured out the illusion. But idk how to get my characters through it, even with the illusion out of the way my characters won't walk through it. It's weird
25:46 I’ve never used a chest as a weapon, but I have just picked up chests I couldn’t lockpick to open later at my leisure. I first discovered I could do that in Divinity Original Sin 2. I had the Red Prince carry a chest through all of act 1 and after I could open it in act 2 we just left it on a random beach.
There is something cozy and nostalgic about Lae'zel and Shadow Heart's heartfelt racism that just makes me want to play this game again. Like slipping into a good book (Tasteful manifesto) I haven't read in a long time, cup of anime girl themed gamersupps in hand, while COPS reruns play in another room.
13:50 To be fair, it sorta makes sense? Like you obviously don't need overt racism in every fantasy story, but considering humans are racist towards one another just because of skin color and accents, I can imagine it could be worse if some people had horns with sharp claws or green skin with tusks.
Of course that isn't a complaint, BG3 isn't hitting tou over the head with it.
- she’s a loot goblin
- she does not like spider adjacent creatures
- bogs are gross
- she’s down bad for the vampire twink
Lads, I think she’s perfect.
