In the US you join a militia, in Europe you join your local football club.

"What is this?" It's just a casual weekend. That's one of the differences between European and American soccer. Welcome to Europe

Sports in the US = Money
Sports in Europe = Passion

in most european countries our continent is called EUROPA 😉

LOL... We (on the European side) listened to you with a condescending smile when you were talking about American football fans at the beginning, knowing perfectly well what was coming next, exactly like a cat watching a little mouse reach its fangs all by itself... so satisfying and funny !

To us Europeans it's normal

"This is going on while the match is playing?"
25ish years ago a hungarian humour magazine wrote that the players dared to disturb the ultra's cheering by playing the game.

Americans: FIGHT AND WIN!!!

Meanwhile British football chants⚽: Your mo'er is your sister, your fa'er is your bro'er, you all do one ano'er, welcome to the Kiddy family.

When Croatia was in SECOND place in world cup 2018 half a million people were on the streets of our capital city celebrating and welcoming the players back home. I remember being out of the city at the time and some american tourists (I was at the sea side on my vacation) were wondering what the hell are we celebrating, seocnd place, how embarrassing... then 4 years later in 2022 Croatia was in third place and still nearly 100k people were on the streets of our capital city again welcoming the players. yep, people for sure are passionate about it.

For any American guy pulled in Europe for a trip and thinking they will be bored by visiting churches and museums, try a football game. It might not be as family-friendly as an American football game, but it's a good cultural experience for the lads.

EU: Generational passion for your team. US: All about buying corndogs and being a polite consumer.

This was such a joy to watch. You started out just comparing fans, but you ended up discovering something much deeper: that for many European supporters, football isn’t just a game — it’s an identity, a ritual, a shared pulse that connects whole cities and generations.

Your respect and awe really came through, and that’s what makes this video special. You didn’t just ‘react,’ you learned and shared that discovery with us.

As someone who loves seeing cultures through new eyes, thank you for reminding us how powerful collective spirit can be.

This is because in europe the local team is a core part of the community and the heart of the local area. In america its a franchise.

"Somebody lit a fire!! 😱"
😂😂😆😆🤣🤣 I could watch this in a Loop, his reaction is just hilarious 😂😂

Regarding your questions:
Are flares allowed in stadiums? Not in Germany. The Ultras use them anyway.
Why are there so many different flags? Fans are often organized in different fanclubs which use their own "corporate design".

In the USA, sport is a business and it's all about $$$. In Europe it's all about passion. There a tons of videos on YT about the european fanculture (not only in soccer, but also in basketball (the eastern european fans are really nuts!), hockey, American Football, etc.). When players from the USA move to Europe to play, they are completely blown away by the atmosphere at the games.

This why I say to Americans once the World Cup happens in America you will witness real passion
Football and basketball and rugby is pure passion.
Once Ronaldo and Messi steps foot on the pitch it will be wildddd.

You think that Americans are passionate sports fans?  😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

For the Americans: Football in Europe is extremely Tribal. Every major city consists of 2 major teams. When these teams play they're called a derby. And literally divide the city. However. There are domestic leagues. We're say only English teams can play English teams. And only French teams can play French teams. How ever during European tournaments. English teams such as Liverpool can play an Italian team such as Milan. This is peak tribal football.

12:23 It’s not legal in Europe too, but fans don’t care.

”we’re very passionate about it and a lot of fun”. I had the biggest grin on my face in the beginning and thinking ’that’s cute’, just waiting for what’s about to come. Football over here isn’t just for fun, it’s a religion.
