Okinawa is the birthplace of Karate. Pretty sure I heard that somewhere. Can't remember for the life of me where, though. (Forgive me, Sensei Enkamp)

Really missed an opportunity to lead off with “the birthplace of Karate”

Northern Virginia, the birthplace of Okinawan karate

Oh Okinawa, that’s the birthplace of karate isn’t it

I saw okinawa. Oh boy, now correct me if I'm wrong, but a wise man said that is the birthplace of karate.

Okinawa? The birthplace of Karate?

the gojo ryu guy had so much  aura

Having the only black gi while everyone else is in white is real main character vibe

I once did the hardening exercise with a professional baker and it was like slapping a twig on a trunk. After that we had to do grabs and stuff. The man's hands were like vises.

@SenseiSeth It was a pleasure clashing arms with you!

I trained Uechi Ryu for over a decade and got all the way to 2nd Dan. Seeing some of those drills really brought me some nostalgia. Love to see the recognition Okinawan Karate is getting vs the hate people assume because of all the Mcdojos

Regarding doing something for the long haul, that quote: "First and foremost, falling in love is the most important thing."
That hit so hard.

Okinawa is the birthplace for karate ! The masters train for life protection all their lives . For mental health and physical health as well! Much respect to Okinawa and all aspects of Okinawan culture!

An American Karate black belt tracing the roots of his art back to its very origin. I love seeing this stuff.
I also hope you DO go to Okinawa and stay there for a while to learn more about the origin of your art Seth Sensei.

Judoka here. A little over a year on the journey. But those masters nailed it. You gotta love what you do. Awesome video man

This is some of your best work. Your editor too. Loved the whole thing.

Welcome to Okinawan Karate!  Shito Ryu practitioner for almost 30 years!

I'm sure Jesse is proud!😂

I hope you do go to okinawa! Every time you swing back around to karate and journey out again it seems to bring something more in the other arts you learn.

I love how the sensei at the end acknowledges that things like weight class and the like matter and isnt dead set on technique over everything. kind of refreshing from the type of you might read from internet comments and couch jockeys

also loved hearing the Kabuto sensei talk about his practice as a living thing that updates itself as it is passed on. It feels like arts that dont evolve to some degree feel like dead arts to me, no longer growing. The way the Kabuto sensei spoke of his practice, it made it seem alive and thriving. Kind of like how i see your journey

What a great opportunity to make a connection with some genuine Okinawan lineages. Around the @9:00 mark the translator in the blue shirt is Miguel Da Luz, from the Karate Kaikan in Naha. He's made huge contributions to the global karate community by helping publish and translate all kinds of articles and content that were previously only available in Japanese and can now be read in several languages.
