Lara Fabian is one of Dimash's biggest idols (he said in an interview one of the 3 biggests along with Michael Jackson and Luciano Pavarotti), probably the most influential on the way he sings and performs:

I've read somewhere that, when he was a child, he was listening her songs every night to get asleep.

Lara has been the musical muse of Igor Krutoy during 10 years and Dimash was dreaming to join them on stage.

Igor Krutoy discovered Dimash when he covered Adagio on The Singer contest, and was praised by Lara. Dimash did collaborate with Igor during several years afterwards. Igor came back from retirement and composed severals songs for him.

He covered many of her songs, most of these were composed by Igor Krutoy and written by Lara. Out of my mind I can list:

○  "Adagio"    (She wrote it and is the original performer),

○  "Mademoiselle Hyde"    (she wrote it and is the original performer),

○  "Love of Tired Swans"     (she wrote the song in French under the title "Je t'aime encore" and was the original performer of the french then the Russian versions, Dimash covered the russian version)

○"Ascolta La Voce" / "Vocalize"  (this was a pure vocalization and she was the original performer, then lyrics were added for Dimash and it was rebranded as "Know")

Lara also wrote the lyrics of Dimash's song "Your Love" composed by Igor.

And she covered "Love is like a dream" before him (song from Igor Krutoy originally performed by Alla Pugacheva).

Finally, they also performed "Ti Amo Cosi" together, in trio with Aida Garafulina: this is a song that she performed g with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo then again later with Dmitri and Alina Yarovaya, before this new trio with Dimash and Aida.

“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic,  was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.

This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).



When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and composed the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.



Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song  was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.



But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.

At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two  inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version.

She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during his own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone.

Serge and Lara  became good friends and performed several other duets later on.

Recently, Serge Lama retired and he made one of his last TV show and public appearances: Lara was one of the guests and she performed this song in front of him for the final time.

is legendary internationally, even in non french-speaking countries.



The most recent covers I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.



Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance the En Toute Intimité, 2003, Paris Olympia version is even more dramatic

Lara is 56 years old nowadays and singing live her songs in the same key she released back in the early 90''s, she's currently on tour, she has been on tour since October 2025, and her final concert of this current tour will be on the Stadium in Paris November 2026. She has also been working as vocal coach in both version of The Voice (Canadian and French) since 2005. She has been singing this song, Je suis malade, since 1994 letting people in tears. Last year, she participated in a very famous show in France in tribute to the composer of this song, Serge Lama. He was present on the show, and Lara moved everyone by singing this song in tribute to him. Here is the video so you can check it out. Fun fact: Lara was trained as an opera singer, but she decided to dedicate herself to pop music because she is an exceptional songwriter and felt freer to compose songs in multiple languages within the pop genre.

Lara sings in Russian, Hebrew, Greek, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Italian, Latin, and Flemish/Dutch. She studied bel canto and piano from the age of 8 to 18 at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium, where she was taught by some of the finest opera instructors. She also had the incredible opportunity to study with two of the best Italian vocal coaches in Sicily, Italy, between the ages of 21 and 25.

She has never stopped taking vocal lessons. To this day, she attends two vocal coaching sessions per month, either online or in person, with her bel canto teachers from Italy and Canada.

David Foster himself introduced Lara in his 2010 Las Vegas DVD as "the voice that is on the top of the heap."

Fun Fact #1: As a child, Dimash reportedly listened to Lara's songs before going to sleep. Lara Fabian wrote the lyrics to Dimash's song "Your Love," a composition by Igor Krutoy. Dimash, Lara, and Aida sang "Ti Amo Cosi" together at Krutoy's birthday party, and last year, Lara invited Dimash as a guest to her concert in London. They sang "Adagio," Lara's song, together. In 2017, Dimash performed "Adagio" on The Singer, and Lara really liked Dimash's version.
Fun Fact #2: Lara and Celine were entering the American market together, but unfortunately, Celine's team forced Lara out of the market Lara's manager or label (I don't know the correct terminology) as a result of these actions she abandoned her. It was a very unfair play. Ultimately, Celine entered the American market, and Lara entered the European market, and Lara's fans were very supportive.  I prefer Lara Fabian because gives an emotional performance, can be touching, and can convey a wide range of emotions on her face. Additionally, Lara seems to be a very nice and warm person, she is also very modest.but both are technically outstanding. But that's just my subjective opinion.
