The audience changed the lyrics from "I love you" to "We love you." It was a gesture of support for Lara. She was going through a very difficult time, a truly difficult time as an artist and as a person. Celine is a wonderful singer, but she fought for her career with all her might. And the methods were different.

For her to sing so beautifully through that much raw emotion is  a testament to her remakable techincal skill and talent. She is just stunning! What a gift to the world of music. She elevates whatever she sings with authenticity and skill. Lara Fabian is truly one of the greats of all-time. I absolutely adore her.

Lads,
This was a very emotional song and time for Lara. The support of her fans. They actually sang We Love You to her, although the song was actually I Love You.
This was a difficult time for Lara after the break up of her relationship and the dispute with Celine Dion’s people, she was thinking of giving up her career. This event convinced her to stay and continue her career.
Thanks for your reactions.

audience: we love you! Lara: I love you!)))   QUEEN LARA!

the public  singxs we love you when she sings  I love you

Para mim foi inesquecível e absurdamente inverossímil Ela é grandiosa! Uma plateia inteira , tirando seu fôlego .  Isto não é para ninguém!! Eu a admiro em todas
as instâncias! !! Foi inesquecível!!
Cem vezes melhor que sua antecessora.  .!

Love you  Lara Fabian.
From Brasil!!

the crowd is singing "on t'aime" ( WE love you" ) and she responds with " je t'aime ( I love you"  )   - It is, for me anyway, the most beautiful moment I've seen in my 80 year...............the crowd was about 4400 and were consoling her recent breakup  --  fabulous !

I was at that concert, and I can tell you that I’ve never experienced such passion between a singer and their audience anywhere else.
You’ve got to watch the whole concert.
It’s incredible.

Первое выступление после утраты любимого человека!

Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides.

Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you”  by  “On t’aime /  We love you”.

I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her.

It shows how benevolent and humble she is.

The song itself is a gem, it was as I said one of her songs that reached the top 10 in France charts. But it even grew bigger after it and has become now a french classic, her most iconic french song. It is still attracting a lot of covers from the young french and canadian vocalists generation (Amir, Jeck,  …). Most frenchmen know the song by heart.

Surprisingly, it was also a massive success  in russia and eastern europe: she became a superstar there thanks to it (and 15 years before her lengthy collaboration with Igor Krutoy that extended this even further) and the song is a MUST in Russian karaoke and a recurrent in russian singer contests.

Again many covers of this songs from eastern europe talents: Polina Gagarina, Sevara Nazarkhan, Katerina Maslova,  Natalia Tsarikova, …

As always with her biggest hits, Lara has performed it in many different ways:

Intense and powerful at World Music Awards 1999,

Subtle and delicate in her En Toute Intimité 2003 tour.

Classy and moving, performing with 2 vertebrae broken, at Royal Albert Hall in London (2011)

Jazzy in a recent perf (2018) with a band from Quebec

The lyrics are also mesmerizing. Despite the title, it is  not a classic love song but a breakup song instead.

“Je t’aime” was written by Lara  Fabian and Rick Allison, her longtime music producer and composer. He also had been her boyfriend for a few years, at the start of her career. This song was written when their love evolved to a friendship and a professional relationship . It speaks about a couple splitting while still having a lot of sentiments one for the other.

Lara was once in Sony with the generation of Maria Carey, Celine Dion, and several other singers. Her voice and her vocals were so outstanding, posing a threat to those divas, and there were underlying reasons why she had to leave America

The audience are singing "on taime (we love), she sings the lyrics "j'taime" (I love).

This outpouring of love from the audience is absolutely spectacular. Thankfully, they did that, because it clearly helped her get through some tough times. She clearly had no idea what was happening, but I read that the musicians were in on it. The pianist even started playing when the audience began singing. It must be an incredible experience to have so many people singing along to your song. That sense of connection certainly gave her strength again. Personally, I much prefer Lara’s vocal tone—not to take anything away from Céline Dion’s success and talent. Lara is a fantastic storyteller and completely captivates you. I’m not necessarily the “emotional type,” but Lara manages to bring tears to my eyes with her songs. And let’s be honest—you can’t watch this without feeling it. She’s so overwhelmed, yet she still manages to sing so beautifully.

Lara is much better than anyone on the planet.

She deserved all....so underrated artist...

not the best one to discover her skills, but to show how human, how loved, how genuine she is, it's perfect  !
38 yo french metalhead here, and I genuinely think she has one of the most beautifull soul on this planete.
If you have time on your side you should check some interview that she did, there is many in english available on youtube, she's fluent in 4 language, sing in something like 13-15 languages, she's very smart, very sensitive / empathic  and so she's very interesting to listen, really. ;-)
Love from Francce guys !

The greatest audience love bomb in music history. Profe me wrong. ❤

When she snapped her head to the right it wasn't because the crowd was loud, it was the piano player stopped playing. He was in on the tribute along with the producer who were told an hour before what was going to happen. A lot of the audience were music students from colleges all over Paris. The head of one of the colleges organized the whole thing because Lara was going thru a tough time. They could never to this today with social media.

For the story there was a tempo misunderstanding and Lara missed her start, but the audience caught her up and start singing on time. Also, the public change the lyrics from "Je t'aime " (I love you) to "On t'aime" (We love you) singing for Lara, that's what makes her emotional.

Very emotionnal rendition... The title of the song is "I love you" and the audience sings "We love you".
