A spark is so simple yet so complicated to understand every person should see this movie to really enjoy the simple things in life because one day they’ll just be gone so never take them for granted

The actor who voices the female Jerry just has the warmest, most soothing voice.

This was originally released on D+ due to the pandemic. It only recently got a theatrical release.

Richard Ayoade fits so well as one of the Jerrys

Zero marketing and being shunted straight to streaming did this movie no favours. It's such a shame how much damage the pandemic did to cinema.

This is probably one if not my fav Disney/pixar movie ever! As an artist we’re pushed so hard to be successful and profitable and to view art as our passion and our meaning in life but there IS NO one purpose! You’re alive to simply be alive 😌

going into this movie completely blind, only for the main character to die in the first 10 minutes is SOOO funny 😭 i knew you were gonna be in for a trip, but i’m cracking tf up

This is one of the best movies I’ve ever watched, and I loved every single moment of him when I first watched this years ago

I always think how are they supposed to find their spark with pizza or something if they can’t taste food in the “before” 😂😂😂

@JeM130177 4 months ago

I think this one took the hit of coming out during lockdown, so pretty much straight to streaming and didn’t get seen so much! Would also highly suggest “Onward” which had a similar fate and I think is heard of even less and is an absolutely gorgeous Pixar film! I think you’d definitely love it!

The movie really is underrated.
It has a little bit of a tone problem - a lot of people, myself included, kind of internally sigh when he wakes up as the cat, because we know this will mean a bunch of whacky silly hijinks that will take time away from the genuinely interesting emotionally complex main plot. But ultimately it's still very impactful in my opinion, I really like it.

My father really hated it though. He came at it from a religious perspective and said he found it offensive and dumb that the movie wants to have the kind of gravitas that comes from seriously asking questions about the purpose of life or the existence of an afterlife, but refused to engage with that on religious terms, instead opting for those silly corporate Gerries.
Now I'm not religious and I disagree with him, but he might not be alone in his opinion. So maybe that's part of the reason why this is not very well known/beloved in general.
