UV Printing on Glass: Sticker vs. Direct Print. Hot Water Beat Them ALL.

Does UV ink actually stay on a glass tumbler? I printed four glasses on the same machine, the same day, with the same file, prepped four different ways, then spent a day trying to get all of it back off.
One got zero prep. One got an adhesion prep pad and a direct print. One got the pad and a UV DTF sticker instead. One was frosted glass, prepped and printed direct.
All four survived a hand wash and a towel rub, which surprised me. Then I filled them with ice water, and fifteen minutes later the ink on the unprepped glass slid off under a fingernail. The prepped clear glass came off too. The frosted one and the sticker held.
Then I filled them with hot water, and every single one came up. All four. Including the frosted one.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:
On a CLEAR glass, a prep pad alone was not enough for a direct print
A UV DTF sticker on prepped clear glass held far better, and it is faster to make
Frosted glass was toughest of the four, because there is something for the ink to grip
Hot liquid is the real enemy, more than cold and more than washing. Cold drinks only
xTool already says UV printed glass should not go in a dishwasher, and now I know why
