I remember this match like yesterday watching this on TV, use to love to wake up to Wimbledon matches. The Serena comeback was inspiring! Two different style of players lead to a nice matchup.

This is one of the best tennis matches I've seen in a long time. Breathtaking tennis from both ladies. wow

Not seen much of that match before. Thanks Wimbledon for uploading so many classic matches! :* Best channel of the GS at the moment. :)
It was also for Mauresmo a good chance to win a GS, but Serena again showing her incredible mental toughness.

This was a good match. Full of drama and intensity. Can't believe it has been over 19 years as I write this. And knowing what happened in the Saturday too. Yes a classic match.

Venus vs Maria Sharapova was round of 16 the earliest Maria lost in any game after winning Wimbledon. It was classic. Venus surprised me.

Wow! she won all four slams by the age of 22 in a sport which is considered to be a white elite sport. Incredible!

I wish they would go through and put all the finals up first....I haven't been able to find a complete version of Chris Martina 1985- the only one on youtube cuts out the 3rd set. Then give us SFs, QFs and early round.

This match is typical of the big matches against Serena from the 2000's.
A lot of players get into a winning position against Serena and then disbelief and panic take over.
In the decade-plus from 2002 onwards, most players stepped onto the court just hoping to take a set from Serena. So when they're actually in a winning position, they panic.
That's pretty much what happened here. Mauresmo had no Plan B once Serena started playing better.
Also goes to show the mental and psychological side of tennis almost no one ever talks about. Mauresmo choked, but then so did 80% of the other players playing Serena back then.
