incredible 💚

thank you emp

The historians are ultimately the ones who will decide how you’ll be remembered. Glad Hungrybox has emp to set the story straight.

Kevin Nanney: I need a name that will be synonymous with me forever.
Also Kevin Nanney: Dr. PeePee

As someone that knew the history, the way you flipped all the titles and the last 15-20 minutes in general was phenomenal.

This was a godlike video

Its 2026, all of the other Gods have retired (as of now) meanwhile Hbox just took home his 40th major win, the GOAT

Hungrybox really won evo with a full time engineering job that’s crazy when u think about it

I asked Juan to sign my controller before one of his pools matches in 2016 EVO.

He looked tired, was in line for coffee, but still took the time to give me a signature.

+1 good interaction for the Box Man, love that dude

It’s crazy looking back at this documentary 5 years later. Not only was it such ahead of the curve, but it completely changed how melee would treat hungrybox for years to come. This documentary is exactly what caused me to start following melee, and I cannot thank you enough for doing so. Melee forever

"If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we would find in them enough sorrow and suffering to disarm our hostility" - Henry Longfellow

Melee doc if it had DLC
This was a godlike watch. His story is impressive and inspiring

Imagine having to face "The fifth god" and then you finally meet him and he's named Dr. PeePee.

We need a part 2. Everything that has happened since this video is just insane, his rise in popularity, becoming the face of Smash streaming, the records he has broken, the way he stopped winning majors in the new era of melee, the ult detox, and to end it all with his victory at Genesis would be just perfect

Imagine vacationing with your family, thinking "Oh cool a tournament for a game I play, I should enter" Then beating the former #1 player in the world

"Now...there's only Juan"
1:01:40 Watching him turn around to face the exiting crowd, tried putting myself in his mindset for a moment and immediately started feeling the walls around me closing in

"Hopefully one day, Melee will learn to appreciate Hungrybox while they still can, because there will never ever be another player like him"

This documentary may be the reason they will. Thank you, emp.

Rest in Peace, Rachel Lillis, the voice of Jigglypuff throughout the entire Super Smash Bros. series (even if they basically just reused her voice clips from SSB64)

You made Hungrybox a legend in the Smash and fighting game communities, voicing his main forever. We can never thank you enough.

Emplemon 10 years ago: YTP Homer Simpson Commits Tax Fraud in the Belgian Congo with Justin Timberlake’s Left Kidney

Emplemon now: Best smash bros melee player of all time, best nascar racer of all time, best Russian at a not-letting-the-world-die-in-nuclear-fire

this is probably the only community where dudes can keep raw crabs in their pockets and nobody even notices the smell

"You Know How Hard I Work Out Here?"
Man it hurts me that he has to ask that, that people are just unaware.

"But after every defeat you can count on HBox to pick up the pieces, come back later, and win"

5 years later and this video still hits hard.

Congrats to Hungrybox for winning his second Genesis title!
