Tortured to death by a doctor named Doctor after being shot by a guy you never met while doing a job you didn't ask for

Imagine having a leader with so much charisma and integrity that his death un-corrupts his blatantly corrupt subordinate.

>Almost died on the job
>Got elected as a meme
>Rival so unlikable he literally ran himself out of government
>Got shot by a hater stalker
>Medical Professional so arrogant he literally worsened his condition
>Got reincarnated as a comic cat
Truly the American way

Fun fact: James Garfield’s great-great-grandson is Richard Garfield. For those unaware, he is the man who invented Magic the Gathering.

Never expected that I'd hate the Doctor more than the LITERAL shooter.

>Man named Doctor Bliss
>Becomes a Doctor
>Becomes the embodiment of the phrase “Ignorance Is Bliss”

Kojima, you’ve outdone yourself.

The doctor that killed the President through medical torture being called Doctor Bliss is the most Kojima coded thing I can imagine.

That ending is brilliant. The 1800s seem so far away, so primitive and barbaric. Yet the moon landing was within a lifetime.

My favorite thing about Guiteau was that he specifically chose the ivory handle option when buying the gun to shoot Garfield, because he thought it would look better in a museum.

Why did soldiers refuse medical care?

>The medical care in question.

I knew it had to be Garfield's assasination when I clicked on this and I'm not even American or that interested in US history. Gotta thank Sam O'Nella for that

Wholesome fact: On the English Wikipedia, the article on James A. Garfield is currently marked as a featured article - signifying that it is one of the best articles this encyclopedia has to offer. I believe that this was a way to honor the 20th US President's legacy.

I apologize Garfield, I was not familiar with your game.

Honourable man wins presidency and eliminates all political opponents by doing nothing, gets shot by scam artist with thin skin and killed by bad medical practice.

This is such a fucking tragedy, what the fuck?

I'm so angry over something I've never heard about that happened 145 years ago.

Can we just talk about how great the storyboard is on this?

Garfield was ambidextrous and knew multiple languages. He could write in Greek with one hand, and Latin in the other at the same time.

Garfield was such an incredible man that it took a metric warhead of idiocy to kill him..... and it still took months

For a man whose legacy is forgotten, his life’s tale reads like a Kafkaesque dark comedy, as it’s the definition of “being punished for being virtuous”.

Nobody's going to see this, because it's 5000 comments deep, but the song from 0:46 is "HGTV" by NYSE. Emp didn't include it in the music pastebin, although it is the proceeding track on the album from the other NYSE song "gross2". Had to check Whosampled to find it because the Human League bassline jumped out at me immediately.
