OST's a bop

now say it with me, "rhythm heaven is the most underrated rhythm game ever"

I just noticed that Beyoncé played fan club wrong

Every time I say “I suppose” I have to hold back the urge to do my best Beyoncé impression. This game changed my life

Just to note one tiny error, Remix 6's transitions to lockstep were probably not your fault.  There's actually a glitch where if you tap frame perfect on the change, it doesn't register the input.  It's pretty much the only glitch that affects gameplay in a noticeable manner in the whole series if I remember correctly

Watch Beyonce play, she messes up the I suppose cue 😭

Rhythm Heaven is one of my favorite games of all time, and this video is extremely well made and shows exactly the aspects of what make it so great. Bravo!

23:20 I agree!!! It's awesome having cultural contexts be preserved throughout localizations, and normalized as just part of the whole characterization of the media. I love how much Rhythm Heaven's English localizations embrace its Japanese roots while not overbearing them. I feel like that's why so many fans were disappointed to hear Manzai Birds was cut out of Fever, because that was pretty much the only* time the localization thought it was "too much", and that the concept of a pun-based comedy routine isn't all that hard to understand, even if it would require less accurate translations to lyrics that don't really have any contextual importance other than comedy anyway.

Especially cool that it was ahead of its time in terms of that, too, since the game came out before the internet gave the idea of faithful, untampered localizations of media a sizeable demand.

[*Tengoku wasn't localized at all mainly because it was released too late into the GBA's library to really bother, especially since Rhythm Heaven wasn't an established series worldwide yet, not entirely because of how it has like 6 different games with feudal-inspired themes and songs]

this video is good :)

Watched this from start to finish the moment it dropped! For as many passionate fans as there are of smaller franchises like Rhythm Heaven or WarioWare, there's so few people to really dive into the emotionally resonating elements of these games like you have here. You've made a comprehensive and intimate case for this game. The fact that you would give a spoiler warning for a title like Rhythm Heaven really says it all.

Also, the editing here throughout the whole video is top-notch! The notion that you put out a forty-minute retrospective essay that gives every nook and cranny of this game the proper time of day is something to marvel alone. You got high-quality, 60FPS footage of THE RHYTHM TOYS of all things. You gave BEAT BAG the spotlight, and that's so fucking insane. You let the games speak for themselves and your points super effectively.

Great work! I hope your content starts to see more recognition soon because the subjects you cover are always so personal in a way that's easy to get invested in and relate to. Here's hoping this is the next channel to blow up big in the near future!

Rhythm Heaven DS is my favorite game because my thumb won't ache after retrying Lockstep more than 2 times

A video? Oh my gosh!

23:48 I always heard it as "close enough to use our own names"

This video was wonderful! You mentioning this game uses the slightly different movements in the player characters as opposed to flashy button press alerts and the like opened my third eye that absolutely makes the game and it's what sets it apart so well, you can develop a fantastic sense of rhythm in a way that feels completely natural and organic, as opposed to reacting to flashing images and the like. Really cool stuff!

It is always a joy to see another retrospective. Be it one i am unfamiliar with, or one i know like the back of my hand. This falls under the latter, and i love to hear others thoughts on it, especially with the well done research and fine editing. Keep up the good work and have a nice day.

Wonderful job as always!

This was a fantastic video; I'm amazed that you have so few views but it seems this one has started getting recommended to people so hopefully you'll get more attention soon. Good work. :)

Jesus Christ your content is underrated, just subbed.

Watched your SRA Video and this one and I love your analysis! Remember me when you’re famous 💛

i cannot explain how unreasonably happy it made me to see you replicate the "tchk tchk" with tapping twice at 40:38
its just the cherry on top to that part of the video and i love it whenever people do that during rockers gameplay
