This is actually ridiculous and we’re only on the FIRST album, for crying out loud!!!!! If this is how Black Sabbath starts, we aren’t going to survive the rest of it lol May the 4th… and the Force of Sabbath be with us as we dive deeper 🤣

Yes this album was released in 1970. But it was completed in less than one day in 1969.

You two have turned into real metalheads, i love it. I was a young man in the 70,s it was a great time i can tell you.

The bass intro is called “ Bassically “!! Welcome to Sabbath 👏👏

"This album could have been dropped today". Exactly what I've always felt about Sabbath.

Black Sabbath's debut album received generally negative reviews from critics upon its release, with some describing it as lacking substance and dismissing it as a poor imitation of other bands. However, it later garnered reappraisal as one of the greatest and most influential heavy metal albums of all time.

But us teenagers knew right out of the box how great the album was. As Yogi Berra famously said, “the experts, what do they know”?

This album literally set the blueprint for so much modern music.

Close to You by The Carpenters #1 in the charts, then this drops.
"Why do birds suddenly appear .. every time .. you are near? Just like me, they long to be .. close to you -"
"MY NAME IS LUCIFER, PLEASE TAKE MY HAND"

Geezer said that "the song was about the devil falling in love and totally changing, becoming a good person."

Proof that as blues was to Led Zeppelin, so jazz was to Black Sabbath.

The 70's is everyone's era because it was the best time to grow up.

Sabbath is a great British band, in that Era we had Deep Purple, Zep, Floyd, Queen, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull and so many more it was a great time to be growing up, When you get into the first 3 Queen Albums it won’t be what you are expecting 😊 one day eh ?

I loved watching Carol fall in love with this song, and her collapse at the end "how much can the heart take?" I can totally relate to that feeling even after hearing this song 100 times at least. ❤

What a fucking masterpiece my friends!

@josephsoap2698 4 months ago

Absolutely it was the ground zero of metal. I was 14 at the time and remember it like yesterday. The first 6 Sabbath albums are all immense. I hope you enjoy all. Ps its better late than never.

What beautiful people you two are! And you're doing a great service to us elderly folks, letting us rediscover our music through your new ears.

Bill the drummer had a nib for a beard, before tony set him on fire. The song is named after bills beard. The song is about Lucifer falling in love with a mortal woman.
