Happy Birthday to the legendary Ian Gillan! What a fitting day to wrap up our reaction to In Rock. Safe to say these tracks are going straight onto my playlist. Btw our friends are watching Deep Purple live tonight in Toronto. Guys if you are reading this, I envy youuuuuuuuu 🤣
‎
‎Also sorry for that random mid-solo interruption 🙈 The internet decided to drop right when things were getting hot and good lol
‎
‎And thank you to everyone who jammed out through this album with us ❤️ Machine Head next? 👀

This song is a total adrenaline rush! The song "Black NIght" was a single from this era that wasn't included on the record. You should listen to that as well.

There's one more song. "Black Night". It's not an album track, but it was put out as a single to help promote the album. The A-side was "Black Night", while the B-side was an album track, "Speed King".

Jon Lord is one of my favorite keyboardist. R.I.P..

After all that Hard Lovin' & the climax, Man, you both need "Black Night" the 45 that helped sell this amazing album.

At the end of this legendary song, the first song with the typical Power metal rhythm in history Ritchie Blackmore was battering his guitar against the recording studio door and luckily the sound engineer recorded everything!

I've always thought of this song as a precursor to Highway Star. It has a lot of the same elements.

Deep Purple In Rock was the full package, great band, great musicians, great songs, great power, excellent album cover.

DP Mark2 created their own genre with this amazing album. It was a blend of jazz, classical, blues, psychedelic rock and early rock & roll. It was a genre of which only they ever played. These 5 were simply the greatest group of rock musicians of all-time. Also, there's Concerto for Group and Orchestra composed by Jon Lord which Mark2 performed live with the Royal Philharmonic AND Made in Japan which is Mark2's incomparable live album.
