Wardrobe malfunctions usually go unnoticed by other people unless you bring it up. It's very likely no one noticed the ripped shorts.

Ah yes, cosplay. I don’t know the amount of times I burned myself with a hot glue gun working on a fursuit. It hurt really bad. I got a blister one time :’)

Your shorts malfunction story makes me want to make the cloak on my upcoming mandalorian cosplay easily detachable, so I can be a helpful gallant lesbian in case of emergencies

I just started cosplay last year, I was cosplaying Marcy (amphibia) This year, I’m making a Luz (Owl House) cosplay for a con this October!

Now, I'm not a cosplayer, but I can't help but wonder if it's common to have that many fire incidents while making clothes from characters who don't exist

I’m a very casual cosplayer. I’ve only gone as Disney princesses and the Evil Queen from Disney’s “Snow White”: outfits that require knowing how to sew and not necessarily how to craft. My biggest “crafting” accomplishment was figuring out how to make my huge Evil Queen collar stand up. But I LOVE seeing other people’s creations and telling them what a great job they’ve done and seeing them just embody their character so well! That’s why cons are one of my favorite times of year! 😊😊

25:10 Then I realized three fundamental truths at the exact same time

It's so funny to hear people say "but I didn't know how to sew...." for their first cosplay stories since I remember that just like, not even coming up in my mind for my first cosplays lol. Granted I had taken some sewing classes 5 years earlier and my mom knew how to sew/let me use her sewing machine, but "of course I'll sew this, that's what a pattern is for, of course I'll buy a wig, my hair isn't pink" was definitely my line of thinking as a 17 year old back in 2008 lol.

Such funny stories! Glad nobody got seriously injured from any of the fires.

I've only cosplayed one time but it was very special to me. A group of friends and I all dressed up as Team Rocket grunts! We brought plushies in little pokeballs and challenged every other pokemon cosplayer we saw! Cosplaying is so much more fun when you do it with friends, i Couldn't have done it without them! :D

The moment I heard you say that Jupiter is best girl, I had a big smile on my face. I've been cosplaying Sailor Jupiter since 2017 and I even met her voice actress back in '22. I still think back to that moment, smiling

30:40 what about... the CastoffCon?👀

or maybe just cosplays of its charachters? 👀

One of my first homemade cosplay was a human version of Funtime Freddy. I remember it was falling apart half the time and made of random fabric that I could find and I didn’t think it looked good at all. But I still wore it to a con. I was about to leave the con when I heard a little girl yell my character, she had the biggest smile on her face. It in turn made my confidence go up. I no longer have the outfit I wore on that day but I still have the Bon Bon puppet. It sits on my work desk so every time I feel as if my cosplay isn’t good enough, I can look at it and think of that little girl who was so happy to see her favorite character.

"cosplay crunch" I never knew there was a name for it, so many times finishing cosplays minutes before going to cons lmao, I'm doing a cosplay rn, there's like 3 months bc I ain't crunching this year

aaUUGH! i love watching your videos star! i listen to them ALL THE TIME when drawing since i find them rather therapeutic and they help me get into the zone creatively. keep up the great work!

O_O well...your stories remind me of my cosplay nightmares.

I cosplayed Miss Kobayashi in 2019 as part of a memory for my sister who was a fan. She passed in Oct. of 2019 so I had to. It is also a cosplay I had to do

Absolutely cosplay your streaming avatar, you can claim it's for work :D It looks really cool!
If you can find a smaller event to attend, I don't think it would harm to not be in work-mode the whole time. You need time to actually have fun, to enjoy yourself. This is why some people actually bring friends with them who agree to take over the stall for a while. You both get the chance to have a look yourself, and well, if you bring with you a costume (or even just an outfit?) you can change into, you might actually be able to go around incognito ^^

I had a similar disaster when making purity seals, nearly burned my house down to scorch the edges of one

" you can just go online and buy a premade genshin impact cosplay"

I feel called out

At least you burned your cosplay at home. Not Cosplay story, but similar... joined a new unit and put new patches on my uniform really quickly. While getting ready for morning formation, fellow Marine goes "Hey, you have some dangling threads, let me get those!" and took their lighter and did the quick burn off of the threads. Well... standing in Morning Formation, during morning announcements, the SLEEVE OF MY UNIFORM BURST INTO FLAMES! I yanked my blouse off, threw it on the ground, stomped it out and rejoined formation. Afterwards Gunny came up to me and said "New Patch?" "yeah" "Freshly starched?" "yeah" "Lighter to burn off loose threads?" "yeah" and he just grunted and walked away. Obviously I wasn't the first one to have this happen but OMG. :D

17:52 THIS COSPLAY IS SOO COOL AUUUGH
