Did HBO just confirm that Tywin Lannister knew his mysterious cupbearer was actually Arya Stark?

When Tywin was at Harrenhal, he spent a surprising amount of time talking to his young cupbearer. But there was something unusual about their conversations — Tywin seemed far more observant than he let on.

Arya was hiding her true identity from everyone around her. Yet Tywin noticed details about her that most people completely overlooked.

So… did Tywin Lannister actually know that the girl serving him was Arya Stark?

In this video, we examine the clues, dialogue, deleted material, character behavior, and details from Game of Thrones that may reveal what Tywin really knew about Arya.

Was Tywin simply intrigued by an unusually intelligent servant?

Or was he quietly testing Arya because he already knew exactly who she was?

Watch until the end and decide for yourself.

What do YOU think — did Tywin know Arya was his cupbearer?

I like the idea that he knew, that within his cold heart there was some sympathy towards a child caught in a battle greater than her ynderstanding, but in reality Tywin would not have hesitated to use her. Tywin was that ruthless

Perhaps he thought she was the child of a house functionary for one of the northern families who fled at the start of the war which would make him want to cultivate a relationship so that later he could get information he might need.
This could have explained her education and really who would know more about the ins outs and secrets of a castle than a child who grew up in the castle but was of low enough station to be ignored.

Tywin bantered with Arya...she is as bright as he and enjoyed that. Didn't expect her to bolt! Good call...this was good scene.

He knew she was a noble born for sure because of her actions and how lousy of a cupbearer she was. That's also why he councled her in their alone time telling her how to act so she ddnt get caught

@georgeprchal3924 6 days ago

Why would he? He's literally never met Arya Stark before and wouldn't know what she looks like.

Absolutely no way Tywin leaves Arya to the tender mercies of Gregor Clegane when she's a valuable hostage. He could have forced her to marry someone to give house Lannister an additional ally.

Theres nothing in the story that would even lend creedance to the idea that he knew, or even thought, she was Arya Stark. He figured out that she wasn't lowborn yes. That's doesn't really mean much though. During wartime where multiple great houses and dozens of lesser houses were falling left and right, there would have been dozens if not hundreds of highborn children and heirs going into hiding or being caught by the enemy. Having said all that I do like to keep my personal head cannon as such ... He figured out that he was Arya but he let her go because she reminded him of his daughter. He let her go because he couldn't let his daughter have the life she wanted and Arya represented a version of his daughter that he could give her freedom

Doesn't make any sense... when he left Harrenhall, Arya was left behind to be slaughtered. That would be such a dumb move from someone who is supposedly so smart...

I think having arya stark as a hostage would have given him a huge advantage, and for him to ignore such an advantage willingly sounds wrong.

Thats so stupid if he knew it he would arrest her immedietly... Hbo shows again that they dont understand anything about ASOIAF and general how the real world works...

I think he just liked her wit and she made him laugh like he said she reminded him of his children as he was very family oriented I don’t think he could of done anything to her without feeling guilty. He most likely already has guilt about his past deeds although he didn’t do it himself he got the reputation and used it to his advantage but I don’t think he liked it he couldn’t do it to Tyrian either remember, he was driven to protect his family from his fathers carelessness I’m not sure he is as bad as his reputation.

Reading it as Mord, is a tAIny mistake.

@wrongwayranger4736 5 days ago

This is a dumb theory. If Tywin knew he would have taken her hostage immediately. The war with the North was at its peak and Robbs army was winning. Tywin could have arranged another marriage with one of his relatives possibly Lancel. This was another mistake the writers made arranging this situation to even happen. In the books Arya is Rooses cupbearer and she says maybe two sentences to Roose to avoid this entirely stupid scenario. Arya speaking this much to Tywin was such a bad idea because it creates this nonsense.

Is this Morgan Freeman talking?

@hexmaster6267 4 days ago

It doesn't make sense. He was ruthless enough to suggest Tyrion to gRape Sansa to put a child in her - "The girl's happiness is not my concern, nor should it be yours"

@KinzoJ 5 days ago

CLICKBAIT!!! HBO NEVER CONFIRMED IT! This is just a long winding narration of speculation and nothing to the fact that HBO "Just" confirmed it.
