I absolutely love developers who keep non-harmful exploits in their games, especially when the community doesn’t want it removed. Some devs just patch everything, no matter what. Exploits can be really fun!

Honestly I find the “infinite converter lift” exploit to feel very natural in that the lift has two fixed point that are very sturdy thanks to foundations, which allows the lift to be much higher since it won’t wiggle around.

Blade Runners + Parachute is my favorite movement method— slide downhill, parachute and glide uphill.

I do not know if they ever got patched out, but there are two bugs that I've found that are pretty interesting.

The first one has to do with the exploding flies. If you crouch while approaching the spawners, they don't spawn flies. This is intentional, you can get right up to them while crouching and melee them. However, the bug is that the game only checks if you're pressing the crouch button. Interestingly, this means that if you crouch while flying with a jetpack the spawners won't react, you can fly right up to them and bash 'em.

The second is about water. When you're in water, you normally can't build anything. You can build into the water from above it, but once you're submerged you can't any more. However, if you grab onto a ladder while submerged, you can still build stuff! With inverted or double ramps, you can push yourself deeper, and ladders let you continue to build underwater. You could have a whole underwater factory if you wanted (assuming it's not been patched out).

I sort of hope they make an official mini-lift (or just adjust lifts to work at level 2) rather than requiring the weird glitchy setup.

You forgot building underground trains, power lines, belts, and hypertubes. The tricky bit is getting underground but once you've there if you can see it you can normally connect it. One of my factories was 90% subway.

Know this is a bit late but the couch slide glitch can be performed by holding the crouch button the entire time and you don't need the blade runners.

There is one bug I've built my factory around: teleporting trains. All my factory units are connected by them. I also decorated the teleporters so it feels more like an advanced technology, then a bug.

Don't forget hard/soft clearance: there used to be a bug back in update 5 experimental that allowed clipping of buildables, it was patched but then added back due to community feedback, then finally changed to what we have have now: hard clearance and soft clearance.

1:47 - note for console players: to place "mini" or "squish" lifts, at least one side must have a directional connection (splitter/merger/machine/storage/etc.). If one side connects to a belt/support/etc, place that side FIRST, then rotate the other side 'til it faces the desired port while aiming at it. The lift be be in the correct operating direction to snap to the directional port, so you may have to reverse the direction.

The lift height mechanics actually make a lot of sense to me. It would feel strange to be able to just send a lift all the way up to world height by just looking up at the sky, so having a soft cap when building it feels reasonable. However there's nothing stopping someone from chaining lifts together to make a lift go as high as you want which effectively achieves the same thing anyway. The only difference is that it doesn't look as clean, so we have a pretty straightforward mechanic that allows you to set the lift endpoint wherever you want and have a nice clean vertical lift

1:30 I'd've thought this was just intended behavior of the snapping functionality. You can snap between pretty much any 2 vertical points, even if vertically misaligned from the grid and thus not typically buildable, so this is just the logical extension of that.
