2 things I immediately realized when seeing this video.
1. This guys factories look ACTUALLY efficient (unlike mine), and look really good.
2. I forgot vertical space exists.

Load balancing was something I did naturally on my first playthrough. At some point it takes up a lot of space when scaling up.
Discovering manifold was a game changer for me.

Honestly, doing a load balancer only playthrough (while also making it look nice) is a viable method of challenge running Satisfactory.

I once placed around 50 lifts and all of them went the wrong direction because I didn't pay attention...Such pain is hard to describe.

I feel like a Ficsit engineering college would be called something along the lines of “Ficsit Academy of Resourceful Technology” so that the acronym would be “FART” like “Pioneer Obligatory Onboarding Program” which abbreviates to “POOP.”

300 hours in and I finally understand what a sushi belt is. I tried them before but thought the method didn’t work because I had the overflow going back to the start of the line and it would clog. I never thought to just overflow into a sink lol

I tried explaining the same concepts a long time ago, ended up with 3 long videos that are boring and not that good. This is the perfect balance of information, length and good examples.

You know, coming back to Satisfactory after playing Factorio I realize how much easier load balancing is in Factorio. Since their splitters are also mergers, a 2:2 balancer is literally just one splitter. I can't imagine trying to load balance anything more complicated than like 4:4 in Satisfactory. There's a mod for that 😂

On my last playthrough, I got really creative with a blueprint stack of "item sorters" - a block of 6 or 7 smart splitters that would unload a certain item from a train, reload the rest onto the train station for the next cycle (while also accepting/sorting inputs from the current site). It let me run through the entire game with one single train making the runs. The train just needed one car per station, and one station would load items back onto the car behind it for the next station. "Sushi belt trains"? It was over a year ago before 1.0's release... much to discover and utilize on my current v1.1 playthrough (including Dimensional Depots - but finding SAM is a challenge to even get started!)

honestly after struggling working through load balancers similar to Factorio I was so incredibly happy to find the modular load balancer mod. life changing.
